I just recently filed a NPB alert and received the first corrospndance with the bidder whpo is now upset I filed. Here is the responce I recived from them several days ago
I have received notice from ebay that this item has not been paid! That's correct, as I have written several times requesting your address and a total. The last notice on Dec.,22, 2000 was received and read. I feel it is unfair for you to contact them as, I have not received any answers from you. I hope you clear this up, as I have written them and let them know that I am still waiting a reply. As you could tell from my feedback that it is highly unlikely that I would just ignore a purchase.
XXXX
Heres my rsponce
I have never receive any response from you at all. I sent you the EAO notice and never got any response. The EOA requests your mailing address so that I can give you an actual postage figure as I sell internationally and cant quote a postage figure without your actual address and know the shipments destination. I realize there are system failures at times and don't doubt your word at all. I just plain and simply never received any responce from you.
The non paying bidder alert is a way of bringing the buyer and seller together should there be some type of failure. It was not with the not intention of marring your stellar feedback or record. If you read the email from e bay it says you do nothing should the transaction be completed successful and contact is made. I am attaching the original EOA I sent you and want you to forward any previous e mails you sent me along with the headers, as the type business I am in, failure of the e mail system is not acceptable and will contact AOL with in regard to the e mails not being received
Heres the original e mail that was sent to you on 12/15/00
What the heck am I to do now, still no address and no responce from them. I feel they will neg me if I file for the reversal of fees now, is there a why to prevent this, or am I at their mercy!
E Bays feedback forum is well to say the least flawed.
Thanks for your suggestions
Joe

It is VERY possible that email between you is being blocked because one or the other ISP thinks the other is too soft on spammers.
Go to the auction and use the SEND TO A FRIEND link to send them the total. eBay mail almost always goes through.

Email can get a little strange. I once had a bidder who kept asking where he should send his payment. I was getting his emails, but he wasn't getting mine even though we had the same ISP. I emailed him from my Yahoo account, he got it and we completed the deal. About 2 weeks later he emailed me to report that my original emails just arrived.
If using an email account with a different ISP doesn't work, then I use CertifiedMail. It's free.

Perfect example of how email can get screwed up: yesterday (January 10) I finally got an email that was sent SEPTEMBER 26! Not auction-related, thankfully...

I had a similar experience and couldn't receive e-mail for 3 days. I had auctions ending and almost panicked. Now, I put an alterate e-mail address in my TOS so the buyer has another way to reach me if my primary system goes down again.

What I have been doing lately is to send a copy of auction via ebay when I don't receive an email responce.
I have had deadbeats claim they didn't have my mailing address. The problem is easily remedied by suppling it on the "ME" page.
I also include my paypal account information. If the buyer claims they have not received email from me, they have several ways to contact me. It works both ways.
