so I'm fairly new to ebay, selling that is. and after one LONG transaction to France, I now say I'll only ship to US. This guy contacts me and says he lives in US, can he bid on my item and I look at his feedback which says (1) but when the feedback comes up it says 6 positives, 5 negatives (deadbeat bidder etc) and ok so I'm blonde, but this doesn't look good does it? Should I just politely email this guy and say "sorry I don't ship to Cananda" or should I ask him if he's looked at his feedback <g>. I can just refuse bids can't I?

Hmmm, if it were me, I would base it on the amount of the item. I've had people with bad feedback e-mail me in advace. Usually when they do this, they follow through, but not always. Most of my items sell for under $10, so I usually take the chance, but if its for a big ticket item, use the I don't ship to Canada excuse! JMHO!

I agree with Jenndiggy, the cost of the item plays a role here. However, He started off with a down right lie, telling you he lived in the United Stated and he really lives in Cananda, That should be a red flag, I would not ship this guy, nor accept his bid. Ebay listings and biddings are contracts and he planned on entering this one with a lie. I
would ask him to please not bid and send copy to ebay. sometimes I think we can prevent some sad endings if there is an if we see "the writing on the wall"

whoops. should of had one more cup of coffee too before writing that out. He stated he lives in canada, wanted to know if I'd ship there anyway because in my auction I say I "may" work with an out of country bidder. (ie, if they pay with paypal etc.) I think since he is NARU I don't have to sell to him or accept his bids, right?
BTW the item is $100. but do I go ahead and do something because he is NARU?

backatcha glassgirl. I think at $100, I would not want to get involved with this person. I would email him and say that you comply with all ebay terms and conditions. One of those conditions is you have the right to refuse a bidder. At this time you feel you would like to exercise your right, due to his past practice of negative feedback. Wish Him a happy New Year, send copy to ebay. That is the way I would do it.

at the risk of sounding REALLY blonde here, how do you email ebay? I'm looking at the safe harbor page, do I fill out that form there or is there an email address per se? and if he's NARU/supspended he shouldn't be bidding anyway should he??
