Right now I am considering listing a large encyclopedic gardening book. However, I'm wondering if I wouldn't have better results if I waited until March or April when the gardening season begins. On the other hand, by that time there will probably be a million other sellers with the same idea and my gardening book will get lost in the shuffle. Better to list now--when snowbound gardeners are longing for spring (and a few of them are checking out e-bay,) or later, when gardening season begins (and they're actively looking, but the competition's greater?) This topic can also apply to vintage Christmas ornaments--hunting season--snowmobile items, etc. What has your experience been?

Since the first of a zillion seed catalogues arrived the day after Christmas...it IS obviously the season for gardening items!
For some activities..April is actually a bit late for this year.

I would give it a try. All you have to loose is your listing fee. I'd make sure you have a counter (I personally like hidden counters, but that's another topic)
Check to see how much action you get, if it doesn't get much, or doesn't sell, wait a few weeks.
Incidentally, I've sold some items (seasonal and non-seasonal) that ended with very high final bids. Funny thing is, for the three weeks prior to that, it went without any bids, then one week, bam, 5 people want it! Go figure.
