HI all -
I got kind of snowballed in December by two back-to-back free listing promotions. I promised myself to take it slow and easy in the new year. And I've done that. I list a couple a day. But I sort of miss the avalanche of checks after a bunch of auctions close!
What is your rhythm? Do you like to keep a lot of auctions going all the time, or just keep up a steady flow?
I guess the question is really, how many can you handle day in and day out. I am planning to make the move to part-time work in my "real" job so I have more time with the kids, which should also mean more time for ebay if I can get up to speed again...

I came up with this 'logic', that if I list on Thursday to close the following Sunday I would have a bunch at one time but it would give me time to pack, and deal with all the rest without going through the 'rush' every day. That was going pretty well then I decided to try the BIN feature over the holidays which did pretty well. I took three weeks off to put my house in order and started listing yesterday, thinking I won't have to deal with those until next week. Guess what? Three sold overnight with BIN so I have to deal with those today (NOT COMPLAINING). I think if you do a little each day you ultimately get more hits as so many people browse the 'new', and 'soon to be gone' so you have more chances of them running across your listings. But it is tiring.

Great Thread. I keep debating this. For simplicuty I would like to list in large batches, but when all of the down time started then you end up out of luck.
So with the new year I am trying to do some each day, but is more difficult to keep track of everything. I am interested in hearing how others are scheduling.

I've tried both ways over the past couple of years, but the best seems to be putting up 3 or 4 items a day (yes, I am a very high-volume seller!!)
While it's great to do a batch at once, it's more steady and my time is manageable with my few listings each day.
Maybe try keeping the 2 a day, then 5 every Saturday (or whatever).
I might change my mind on this, so don't hold me to it!

I tend to list at a fairly steady pace with big bursts when there's a free promo or other reason to put a bunch up at once. We try to get 25 up a night at least 5 days a week.
I do always regret it when we get into a listing frenzy and list 100+ in a night. Yikes!

I usually list new items every couple days, but I like to have it so that they all end together if possible. That means that on Thurs. I'll list a bunch of 10 day auctions, on Sun I'll list a bunch of 7 day auctions, on Tues I'll list a bunch of 5 day auctions, & they'll all close together on the following Sunday. However, I list most of my Yahoo stuff "1st bid wins" so that means I have stuff ending at various times all over the place. And I try to get to the post office once a day or at least every other day because payments all seem to trickle in at different times regardless. Keeps things interesting!
My new goal is to list 15 new things per day but I'm not really meeting that goal yet- I've been averaging 8-10.

I like to pace the listings 3 to 5 every other day I try to keep listings around 20 to 30 at any one time 10 day auctions work the best for me.
This way as I go I get 3 to 5 auctions closeing at a time gives me more time to deal with packing and buyers then if I have 30 or 50 winners all at one time to keep track of. http://www.Dman-N-Company.com

Wow..........I was just thinking the same thing!!!!!!!
For the past 3 years, I was listing at a steady pace. Every other night or so, I was plugging away listing items, going to the PO every day, answering endless emails, so on and so forth. So every day was ebay. Dont mind it, buy a day could not go by without me logging on to the computer.
Then last month, I listed everything that I had in one day. It took me a couple of days to take pics, upload, and get myself organized. But once that was done, I was able to relax. Checked the email a couple of times a day and that was it. No EOAs every night, no running back and forth to the PO, etc. But, whoa..........when my items ended, it was pure chaos. Running around like a chicken with my head cut off, trying to carry a zillion packages to the PO, without falling and breaking a leg, etc....
However, if I need to compare the two, I think I like to list just once a month....Pure nuttiness for a few days, but then I can relax for a bit without having ebay on my brain all of time.....

mildreds- the bulk of my inventory is pre-owned toys; I really like the toys from the 1980's like My Little Pony, Care Bears, & Barbie. I am just now starting to get into vintage Barbie- it took me awhile to work up the nerve because the price points are so much higher and I know relatively little about any of the pre-1980 dolls. I've made some EXPENSIVE mistakes but mostly have managed to do OK aside from that. I also like Disney, but stick to the newer stuff cuz I don't know anything about vintage Disney. I adore the Barbie-style Disney dolls by Mattel.
Most of my inventory does require individual photos & listing. Every once in awhile I am able to get a great deal on a whole bunch of dolls new in the box, and I'm always ecstatic when that happens because it's great to just hit "relist" over & over again all the time.
