Okay, so I probably won't get any help with this, but it's worth a shot. Where do I find items at wholesale that I can resell and not lose a lot out of pocket up front? I see these people selling digital cameras, PDA, etc on ebay for next to nothing.

I doubt if there a many sellers who would divulge this sort of information, and especially on a public board. It isn't a question of being unkind, it is a very competitive market. Understandability sellers aren't going to create more competition for themselves.

When I used to set up at the Flea markt. folks would take me aside and ask the same Question. I would take a scrap of paper and write "from my suppliers "and hand it to them and smile.
one quick tip , research.I drove 125 miles last weekend looking for sources.

I got started using eBay as a buyer, then looking for rare auto parts. I saw some people making a ton of money out there, and thought, hey I can do that too.
I bought some CD Roms for making money on eBay (from eBay sellers), and found much the same information. Some helpful, some dead links, etc, and some other good ideas.
I intend to diversify, and but I think I've found a few good ideas on the CDs. Live dangerously and buy one, do a search for the word "eBay" or "selling on eBay" etc, and you'll find them.
By chance I found a retail store owned by an older fellow, from whom I bought some items at $1 each. I bought four at first, and they sold like hot cakes. I won't say what they were, but my first one sold for $39! I bought 40 more, sold most of them, at prices ranging from my opening bid of $5 to $39.
Once you find something good, don't give away your trade secrets. For example, I'll go so far as to say I often sell car ads and articles from magazines, with opening bids raning from $2 to $5, and I often get $15 each, on one occasion I sold a car brochure for $51 that I got for free ten years ago.
Yesterday, so lady emailed me and had the nerve to ask which magazine, month and year a specific article was from. Yeah, like I'm going to tell her so she can find a seller selling that magazine for $1 or something. This is how I make money by cutting up magazines, filing them, then featuring specific articles or ads that would otherwise go unseen when selling the complete magazine.
So, check around the house, see what you have, get a few CDs, see what others are having success with, and sooner or later it will come to you. It recently dawned on me what I'll sell when my supply of magazines and brochures dries up.
