I have no idea how to ship one. I would like to try to sell it on ebay but I am afraid of the shipping. Should it be determaned after the sale? Before the sale? Who on earth would ship a bike like this? Any suggestions?

Had to ship my son's mountain bike cross-country. I don't see that shiping a vintage bike would be much different.
You can get a bike box FREE from pretty much any bicycle store if you time it right (i.e., before they throw out the boxes). Cheapest method I found was via Greyhound. Considering that many folks aren't home during the day anyway to accept e.g. UPS delivery of a huge package and so would have to make it down to the UPS depot when it's open, it's often more convenient for them to receive via Greyhound, which leaves the recipient a phone message when the package arrives and is generally open 24/7 for package pickup.

Hi all. I have sold a few vintage bikes. All went well, disassembled them carefully and packed them well. Shipped one late 50s Schwinn in two packing boxes, customer was amazed and well satisfied. Allow your ingenuity to take affect and think. You will find a way.
