I just purchased an item that I am not totally pleased about. I think I could have gotten a better deal somewhere else. After 3 days, if the seller does not respond to my email that I sent him today, is the sale considered cancelled or am I required to wait a certain amount of days?

My first question is, if you think you could have gotten a better deal, why did you bid at all?

Secondly, if the seller does not respond within 3 full days then I do believe the sale can be considered void.

That's three BUSINESS days.

Monday is a legal holiday in most states. If you won the bidding this weekend, the three days are Tuesday, Wednesday, AND Thursday before you can make your attempt to bow out.

I guess I typed incorrectly the first time. The deal was good, but the seller did not have enough feedback to make me feel 100% safe. I would have rather spent $20 or so more on a more reputable dealer.

Kinda begs the obvious question: why did you bid?

Either that, or do you live under a bridge perchance?

So, just to make sure I have this straight...

Someone here has bid on an item from a seller with a low feedback rating. They won the auction but now want to back out of the sales contract because they don't feel comfortable about the seller...

I'm sorry but this makes no sense to me. All of the information was available before the bid was made. If someone tried to back out of one of my auctions because of "buyer's remorse" I assume they also want me to leave them negative feedback!

I dont beleive there is a definite time after which a buyer can back out of a sale. The three day thing applies to sellers.

I had a seller not respond to my emails for 10 days after eoa in late November. When he emailed he said that he was "Sorry but I am leaving town for a week". He never sent an address. He wanted me to contact him again, after he came back. I cancelled the sale.

At christmas he left NPB on me! I appealed to eBay with my original EOA emails, explaining that I did all I could within reason to contact this guy and that he had some responsibility to assist in the sale and that I had lost my confidence that this guy would deliver in time for the holiays.

eBay tapped me on the hand and then told me to never do it again and then forgave my bad buyer ways and removed the NPB from my record.

The point is...normally the only one who can cancel a sale for non-contact is the seller. However, it would be nice if eBay would clarify the sellers reponsibility in regards to contact time.
