Now that I have purchased my Mavica I need advice on printers. I'm using the Compaq IJ-200 that came with my computer. Any advice on which printers give the best photo quality? Any help is appreciated.

You can't go wrong with either Epson or HP, but my personal favorite has always been Epson. They will express replace your printer should it fail under the warranty and their tech support is very patient and will sit with you as long as it takes. You'll have to pay for the call to California, but that shouldn't be too much and if you use Dialpad, that will be free. With the Epson you have three choices. If you need the speed, go for the 870 or 900 which go at 9-12 pages per minute. You'll get nice photo quality but not perfect. If you're more interested in the photo quality, go for the 750. Personally, I have both a laser and the 750 so I can choose between speed and photo quality without compromise. The paper quality also makes a big difference. For best results, get Epson glossy photo quality paper, but expect to pay at least 30 cents a sheet. If you get the standard photo quality paper, you'll get good results at about 15 cents a sheet. Don't get any brand but Epson. Epson printers put more ink on the page in photo mode than most others. Other brands of paper are not designed to handle it. I've tried other brands and been disappointed.
As for ink, there are good Epson compatible cartridges for a third of the cost of genuine Epson that work just as well. If you can't find them on your own, email me.

We've always been partial to HP printers. Right now we are using the 970 and it's great. They have some newer ones out now, and I've not kept up with reviews.

I've used Canon, Epson, Hewlett Packard. I would now never own anything other than an HP. I've had the DeskJet 722C for 3 years now and not one single problem. (This is about the 3rd different HP I've used).

After going through a flimsy Cannon, then a crummy Lexmax, I finally ended up with a Xerox Docuprint...and I love it!
One of the features I do appreciate is that you can buy each colour cartridge separately. With Cannon, I was throwing away some cartridges which I know had plenty of blue/yellow/red, just cuz the BLACK was all used up...
Mine is old, and does not have all the bells and whistles, but I still love it. When I replace it it will be for another Xerox.
******** Gosh Shosh!

Hey eyeguy!! How's the FD85! Waiting for some pics! Hope you're lovin it!
I have HP printers. One little cheapy for printing and an HP Photosmart for photo quality. I think now you can get great printers that also do photo quality all with a single printer, though.

I have an HP 932C and love it, love it, love it! Would not own any other brand now for quality printing as well as ease of use.
It has so many features that I haven't even attempted to used, but I will someday.

I do a lot of graphics art work and retouching old photos is a hobby of mone and truely the only way to go is Epson. For very high end but not to expesive go Epson photo stylus. For almost the same quality and a little less money just Epson Stylus.
PS only the trained eye can tell the difference. Also Epson has good software drivers and that makes a WORLD of difference.
For Paper Jetprint is very good and not as expensive as the rest.
