I have a current auction that has an unusually high bid. I have sold three identical items in past week that sold for $150 less than what this guy bid. This bidder has 0 feedback and shades. There is also 5 days left in the auction
So my question is, should I ride it out and see if the bidder pays ( because I KNOW noone will outbid) or just cancel his bid on base of suspicion.

looks like you have a lot of fairly new buyers bidding, the high bidder has only bid $5.00 more than the next high bidder. I don't see that you have a problem or a real reason to take any action.

Cancel the 2 highest bids. It looks like a classic case of bid shielding.
Your 2 high bidders joined yesterday, they both bid high just a few seconds apart, and the email addresses are both from cjb.net.
You can always request their info. I bet they're both the same or, obviously, phony.

yes, but what should I put as reason for cancellation. "Unusually high bid price? "

Make sure you email them (and CC Safeharbor) and request that they not bid on your auctions again.

Uh...
The weirdest thing just happened. I only cancelled the top bidder and then the price dropped $300.00. CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN THAT??!!

Your high bidder...the one that is there now, has a *ridiculously* high proxy bid...that is why it dropped so far.
Do you understand how you were/are being bid shielded?

B bids $53, bid is at $53
M bids $389, bid is at $54
H bids $390, bid is at $390
Remove bidder H, bid reverts to $54
I think.

You should also cancel the bid of the other person at cjb.net. Send e-mail to both users and cc it to safeharbor telling them not to bid on your auctions again.
Not Kerryann on eBay

ALL WRONG !!!!!!!
You should have ended the auction while it had the ridiculous high bid and you could have nailed them then.

LOL! Like they would pay or own up to what they did.
And in the meantime, the seller is stuck with a steep FVF and/or annoyed with the trouble of getting it refunded.
Brilliant.

Your second-place bidder was the mastermind behind the bidshielding. Although, I hesitate to call him a 'mastermind'. About the only way that he could have made it more obvious would have been to name his fake accounts fakebidder1 and fakebidder2. Placing his bid and 2 phony bids all within less than 1 minute was stupid.
The mastermind bid $53, fakebidder1 bid $390 and fakebidder2 bid $330. Fakebidder1 becomes the high bidder at $335, 1 increment over fakebidder2. Anyone looking for a CDRW will pass on yours because the high bid is too high.
Just before your auction ends, the mastermind retracts both fake bids making him the high bidder 1 increment over the person behind him. So, he ends up winning your CDRW for about $50.
