I have a lot of inventory that just doesn't
fit on half.com and have decided to give Ebay a shot. Here's my question:
Is it better to list in the book's related category then in the actual Book subcategory?
Example: a set of Coca-Cola Collectable Price Guides. Which is a better --
Collectibles > Advertising > Soda > Coca-Cola or Books > General > Price Guides ?
Also it seems Ebay book sellers don't list the ISBN in their auction? Is there an obvious reason why?

After 2½ years of selling mostly books on eBay, I find that it's usually better to list in the book's related category. Now that 2 categories are allowed it is often worthwhile to list in both areas.
I think that most people that buy books on eBay don't care about the ISBN... a lot probably don't even know what it is. I've never listed it and I can only think of one instance where a potential buyer asked for it.

Hi there, sorry I can't answer your question, but since you are a book seller, I have a question for you? What is OOP in an auction, do you know?

I would start it out in Coca Cola collectibles and move it half way thru the auction to books-price guides or you can do it the other way around. That way you can see where you are getting the most interest.

Definitely in the Coca Cola category--that's where books on colectibles get the most interest becasue the bidders look there.

Just remember that EBAY only indexes I think the first 200 words of your auction into "search description". So make sure you always get the best words (Keywords) early in the description.
