Important Information from eBay!!
========================================

Several times a month, eBay sends out valuable email communications with news, offers and special events that help you buy and sell. Unfortunately, we have noticed that an error occurred during your registration process that prevented you from receiving these communications. Many of your Notification Preference defaults were set to "no" rather than to "yes", which means that unlike other eBay members, you're not receiving these types of communications.
We'd like to resolve this problem quickly and efficiently. Therefore, on 12/19/00, we returned all your Notification Preferences to the standard default of "yes" to put you in line with the rest of the eBay community. However, we want you to choose your Notification Preferences rather than rely on our standard defaults and will therefore not include you in any communications until 1/04/00. This will provide you with some time to evaluate these choices and modify your Notification Preferences. You will, however, continue to receive certain administrative emails that are part of executing your eBay transactions.
Of course, you can review and change your Preferences by clicking here.
You can also change your Notification Preferences at any time by selecting site map.
As always, your privacy is extremely important to us. To learn more about your relationship with eBay, refer to the User Agreement and/or Privacy Policy today.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. Thanks for being a valuable part of the eBay community.

Yep, there was a lengthy thread here about that very thing last week. Ebay is now using mind reading to decide how everyone wants their preferences.

k927: you asked...

"As anyone else ever gotten one of these?"

YES... approx. 6 million (or more?) users were affected by that very same "glitch".

IMAGINE THAT!!! *sigh*

ki9272649 - WHEN did you sign up? If you signed up BEFORE April, 2000 or AFTER November ,2000 please let me know .... abacaxi at hotmail.com is the best address.

I'm looking for people who had this happen to them.

eBay is at it again. I just got the Important Information email telling me my user preferences have been reset to make sure I don't miss out on "important announcements".

I looked at my preferences and the *only* items changed were for promotional
e-mail's, telemarketing, direct marketing...

I thought eBay stopped doing this in January when it hit the press? Don't they ever
give up?

SMW -
WHEN did you create that account? Was it inside the April-November 2000 window? Or are they resetting preferences for an account that was older or younger than that?

And if there is a PENNY of profit to be made, they will continue ignoring and rersetting preferences!

It is just like your politicians - If you don't agree with them you need "educated" because obviously nobody would feel like you unless they are ignorant.
You will know your own mind when exposed to enough propaganda.
