I thought I would post this over here as a warning.Anyone who uses billpoint should log onto their website and double check their information.
Yesterday I wrote to a person I had paid by billpoint to find out where my item was. I found out that billpoint had given them the wrong shipping address for me. Somehow another billpoint customers name, address and phone number replaced mine. I posted about this on the billpoint board on ebay yesterday and got this response.
Please let me assure you that the incorrect shipping address information appearing in your "User Profile" occurred due to a technical problem and that there was no fraudulent action involved.
This problem has now been resolved and fixed by our Engineers. If you have not done already, please update your user profile with your correct shipping information. Once you have updated your shipping information, everything should be in order and please let me assure you that this problem will not re-occur.
Once again, please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you and thank you for your patience and understanding as we resolved this matter.
Sincerely,
Dominique
I am still upset that my package was shipped to some lady in quebec canada instead of to me in NY. Luckily her phone was also in my information and she said would mark return to sender on my package but now either the seller or I is out the cost of postage as it still has to be mailed to me once it gets back to them. I offered to pay for it but the seller said not to worry about as it is ebay's fault.
I am wondering what information was accidentally switched in other peoples accounts? How secure is my credit card info? This does explain the billpoint outage yesterday and why ebay is keeping quiet about what was wrong.

reddeer, your welcome. I had to check twice before I noticed what was wrong. the first time I only checked the address they gave for the credit card billing. It was right. I find this very unnerving. What do you suppose the chance is of getting ebay to pay for the additional shipping cost caused by their mistake? slim to none?

BillPoint has had problems with that 'glitch' since May 2000 that I'm aware of. The problem ever seems to be widespread, but I'm surprised the system can let it happen at all.

This is one reason I am no longer accepting Billpoint payments. That, plus they haven't credited my account with payments received. Glitch? Sorry, but we need this money. Don't seem to have any glitches when it comes to taking their fees.

Québec, all right!!! I live in la belle province too!
Well, that's just wonderful to hear. A few hours ago I just finished sigining up with Billpoint becuase I read all the negative comments on about PayPal in so many AW threads, I thought Billpoint would be a safer alternative. Woooops!
Anyways, from what I hear Billpoint is still much safer than PayPal. I haven't had a problem with PayPal (yet), but I've only been using it since November when it became available internationally.
