Yes you can charge a buyer paypal costs but you should state it in your auction. This let's them decide if the item is worth the additional charge if PayPal is one of their primary payment methods. It is considered unprofessional to assume that a buyer should pay for the charges without them having previous knowledge. I accept Paypal and I will not charge my buyer's.I will absorb any cost's that are related to PayPal since it benefits me due to the speed of payment in most cases. Hope this helps.

Yes, there is a large number of people that refuse additional cost but I have also seen many people, myself included, pay inflated shipping charges due to the desire to own a particular item. It all boils down to deciding if the price is worth it. Many times I have paid via Paypal and pick up the extra cost because to me it is worth it. My item is shipped that day or the next in most cases.Last thing before I go is I recommend not having the charge passed on to the consumer if you can afford it. It makes for a healthier clientele list.

Call them handling charges or add them to the opening bid. If not, they are considered Payment Surcharges which are against the eBay user agreement.

Dixiebee is exactly right, I had a friend who was shut down for such a TOS. If you do it, call it a handling charge, but of course you have to state it up front in your listing to avoid a potential problem later. If your buyer then pays by alternate method you could always refund the handling or wave it before hand. I have heard some people avoid auctions with handling fees, but I charge a small one. I havent seen where it effects bids one bit, and have had only one complaint, and alot of repeat bidders and alot of praise for the extra care in packing it affords.

Thanks Dixiebee. I will follow up on the information you provided. I was unaware of this policy and would like to learn more about it. Thanks
