the site/mail service Excite.com is permanently down?
I have been trying to get into my account/emails...and I am getting a message that the site is uknown???
Anyone else who uses them encountering this dilemma???

I think Excite changed the url to the mail program so if you are clicking on an old bookmark you might get this message. Try going to the Excite main page, then clicking on the email link from that page.

Edited to say that I just tried this and there is indeed an error message coming up. The message I got said basically "Somethings Awry...." but I clicked the 'Check Mail' link at the top of the page of that this message was on and was able to access my email account okay. Hopefully they are working on fixing this!

I tried doing that...and still got the same message!!!  I didn't receive an email or read any indication that they are no longer in business?? I hope that they are just down and not out!!!

Hi Again Moo Looks like we posted message at the same time. Try clicking on the url I posted and see if you can get in the way I described. It worked okay for me, so perhaps the problem is temporary.

Yup! we posted at the same time!!(LOL).
I tried that link and still got the same message "site unknown"??? But, if you were still able to access your mail, then, probably they are just down and fixing the problem! Thanks for all your help...greatly appreciate it!!!!

I just got in. I panic when excite goes down because I enter my sweepstakes with that address. After it had been down for about 4 days back in 1998 I opened my e-mail to find I had won a grand prize from an internet sweeps. Thank goodness that mail hadn't been returned! (By the way, the prize was a 10 day trip for 2 to Arizona all expenses paid -- except meals -- and $2,000 spending money!)
Excite is working just fine for me now. Try through the main page!

Wow! They were down for four days eh??? I'm glad it turned out alright in the end for you!!!! I just tried going in again and nothing...same message!!!! Oh! well, hopefully they will get the site fix so that everyone can access them again...or maybe they just don't like me???(LOL)Whaaaaaaah
