HI,
Need some advice from the more experienced sellers here. I just had an auction end with buy it now, The buyer e-mailed me back the following
I have bid and ended your auction #XXXXXXXX using the"Buy it Now!" feature, and according to eBay community policy, I need to alert you that I am an eBay
employee.
Also, I was interested in getting this sent as soon as possible (I would like to give it as a gift). I would appreciate if you would let me know what the shipping cost would be to overnight the XXXXXX. I am a
verified member of PayPal and would like to pay you that way. Please let me know the additional cost and whether it would be okay to send it to an address different than my own.
I have included a link below that tells you about the
standards that eBay employees have to uphold to remain
part of the buying and selling community.
You can also find out a little more about me by
clicking the "me" icon after my User ID or going to
the following link:
http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/XXXXXXXXXXXX
My address:
XXXXXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXX
Address I would like this item to be shipped to:
XXXXXX XXXXX
XXXX XXXXXX
XXXXXX XXXXXX
Thanks,
Since anyone can send this link and Not be a Ebay employee & the rules with paypal and sending to another address other then the one that's on the buyers credit card. Would you send it to another address????
Also the buyer has 16 positive feedback rating and has been a member for less than a year.
Any Advice????
Am I being to Cautious??
If you have any doubt that the buyer is a employee of ebay, just send an email to safeharbor. They would know if it is an employee.
Things that I would be aware of:
Maybe this is a legit buyer from ebay. The thing that raises a red flag is that he needs the item shipped express mail. Many people that steal credit cards want the item shipped now and don't care what the cost is. Check how many other auctions that this bidder has bid on.
However, you can never tell about the situation. It could be a birthday gift, ect.
I am a seller on ebay. I bought something for my girlfriend last year as a gift. I wanted it shipped to her as a surprise. The seller was willing to do this for me.
Again, if you have any doubts, email safeharbor about this issue.

Thanks Taz,
I did go and check the bidding activity and noticed quite a bit of bidding since the 16th so thanks to your advice I will now email safeharbor and ask if this person is in fact an employee.

Nope, I've had this happen twice in the past week, (about the different ship to address that is). Both times I emailed the sellers, explained the paypal and or bid pay policy, forwarded a copy of said policy from the email from pay pal and or bid pay and apologized up and down. Both times my buyers were very understanding. We all have rules to go by, and these particular ones are for our protection. If you do send to a different addy, you will most likely be one of the ones complaining that Pay Pal froze your account through "no fault" of your own.

Perhaps if he's so desperate to get the gift out he would be willing to express mail a Money Order?? It'll still save him having to ship it once he receives it. I've done that before.
