As a seller I always combine shipping when a seller wins one or more of my auctions. I don't feel this is just a courtesy but the most **honest** way to cnoduct my business. I can understand not being able to combine shipping on items that would require more than one box to ship.
That being said...Tonight I received two "auto" eoa notices on two items I won from the same seller~~s/h on #1 $4.00, s/h on #2 $4.25~~the amounts stated in his ad. I emailed seller and requested a combined shipping/handling total plus insurance. He sends me the exact same amounts broken down (s/h #1 $4.00, s/h #2 $4.25)as they were individually but only ONE charge for insurance. These were small items, easily fit into one box. So I emailed him and let him know since he was charging me for shipping TWO packages then I would pay to insure TWO packages and expected TWO packages and not one to be mailed. I also sent two seperate paypal payments and reiterated my desire for two packages as I was paying shipping for two packages.
Why would someone discourage repeat business and multiple purchases in such a fashion??? I was even the ONLY bidder on each of these auctions. I am a seasoned ebayer and have never ran across a seller that literally tried to punish a bidder on mutiple auctions in this way. Is it really worth the $3 to $4 of duplicate shipping charges this seller
planned on pocketing to lose a potential long term customer??!!
Thanks for letting me vent!! LOL!!~~D
edited for spelling~~the hick in me was a showing...

Seems like a lousy way of doing business to me, too. But sellers get to set their own terms, within the law and eBay's rules. Many sellers combine shipping so that bidders of multiple items save on shipping. Some don't.
It would be great if he mentioned in his terms that he didn't combine shipping on multiple items, since this is common and buyers often assume as much. Best to confirm with sellers first, I guess.

I agree that sellers get to set their own terms and I did not demand he change his terms in any way. I **should** have emailed the seller first and asked if they combined shipping. But since I am actually paying the price for the shipping of two packages instead of one~~I feel that's how they should be shipped. I'd rather the USPS get my money than a seller that can't treat buyers with common courtesy. Of course, I will not be leaving feedback for either transaction or bidding on the seller's auctions again.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE leave feedback so future buyers dont fall for the same person's lines........Feedback is SO important not only to seller but also for buyers. DO the rest of us a favour and spill the beans.

I was evil last time a seller charged me 3 $5 shipping charges. Stated I would leave feedback after I received it and I did just that 3 NEGATIVE FB stated seller charged $15 to ship 3 items that he paid $1 each to ship. What a rip off.

If the seller did not state in his auction that he would combine shipping, then the fault lies on you for bidding without asking.
I for one would chalk it up as a lesson and move on and never bid on the jerks auctions again !
You can't blame him if he did not state he would combine shipping in the auction.
I offer all of my buyers the option to combine shipping and you would be surprised how many DO NOT take me up on it.
In my AW WBN I state that if you are the winner of multiple items you can contact me for a discount on combined shipping, or you can simply deduct $1.00 from each item you won.
This means $1.00 for every item won, yet some buyers only deduct $1.00 for every item after the first one, Some do not deduct anything at all, and very few actually email me for the discount.
I know buyers do not like to read and I am using this to my advantage now !
I clearly give them the opportunity to save money, but if they do not bother reading my WBN, it will cost them more. I happily pocket the extra and laugh when I think about some of these threads on here like "Bidders just don't read" HAHAHAHA

I always combine items for reduced shipping. I state it in my auctions and there are no questions about it.
Yes, I also use auction software, but I have it set so I have to prompt it before it's sent out and I can easily reduce the shipping charge for multiple auctions. It's not hard to do at all.
And I would never dream of neglecting to combine items and reduce shipping just because the buyer may not have noticed or requested it. I like to treat people the way I would want to be treated.

I will agree that it is my fault for assuming the seller was courteous and honest in his ebay dealings. As long as he ships my items in the TWO seperate packages that he charged me for, I will leave no feedback.
