Hello,
Hmmmm Anyone else have this problem. I checked and I've had more then 10 in the last 30 days. Alot of people registering to bid on my stuff (and alot of other peoples stuff too).
But then I've also had alot of slow payers, people w/ High Feedback paying late or just never responding.
I know the economy is slowing, but my sales were/are actually picking up. Besides the recent AW outage/fiasco/headache.

Deadbeats are definitely on the rise. I would say that non or slow payers is about 10% of the bidders right now. This has nothing whatsoever to do with the economy. It is a poverty of character not funds.

Since, according to this forum, deadbeats have been "on the rise" for at least the past year or so, it would be interesting if we could tap into ebay's records and see what the NPB claim history looked like - whether it truly continues to rise or not.
Otherwise, this kind of thing may just be a random event...on an given month, for any given seller, you may just "get lucky".

Definitely on the rise for me! Just today I had to file 7 NPB alerts on one bidder (he bought 7 different auctions on the same weekend and hasn't paid for any of them!). I also have 2 more that are teetering on the edge, ready to fall into the pit!

I have my good months and bad, this month is bad. One has a full mail box so I can't get ahold of him. Another has a bad address, and ebay is suspending him.
Sometimes, after several emails, Non-payer alert and neg, a few days later a check rolls in with a note that says, "Sorry for the delay." Do these people read their email?

YES! Since December I've had a lot of deadbeats and slow payers. I'm really getting frustrated with it. Some are newbies, some are long term bidders with a decent feedback.
In the last month I've had three payments supposedly "lost" in the mail.
I've got one bidder who has not responded to any of my emails or NPB alert in over 7 weeks yet she just received a positive feedback on a high end item a few days ago that she bid on well after my auction ended. She's got 31 positives and one neg from a year ago, she's about to get another now!
In general, I've noticed an increase, for reasons unknown and as I mentioned, from all types: newbies and experienced bidders.
****TURN THE TABLES: DEADBEAT SELLERS: two and a half days ago I bid and won an item I really wanted. Normally this item sells for between $30 and $100, but on average about $45. I sniped this one item (described as having some minor handling wear) for $10.50 and I have not heard from the seller (feedback of 16, no negs). The auction ended at a very poor time, from a selling point of view, great for a determined buyer like me.
Either he was hoping for a higher price and wants to relist it, and is hoping I'll just stop bothering him, or he's inexperienced and unprofessional, just procrastinating.
And yes, I emailed him right after the auction, and this morning, no replies to either.
I've also seen a rise in unprofessional, disorganized sellers, out of 12 purchases made in the last month, 5 were somewhat less than exemplary to say the least.

I've had the exact same problems. I just recently began selling on Ebay, and out of the first 6 things I listed, only 1 of the winning bidders actually contacted me by the 10 day cut off. I've even had a problem with a seller not sending merchandise to me until 40 days AFTER she recieved payment. I wish there were a way of enforcing the rules!! When I contacted Ebay about these problems, they just sent me a list of links to places on the web I could go to pay money and have my problems resolved. Why can't THEY do anything about it!?!?
