I posted a couple of days looking for help for my buyer getting a refund on her money order lost in the mail. thanks to those of you that responded that she should be able to trace the money order and get her refund with her receipt.
She does indeed have her receipt, and now her bank, where it was originally purchased, is telling her that they will have to wait 90 days to see if it comes back, and then they will refund her money. This sounds unusual to me, I could have sworn I'd had a buyer get a refund quicker than that before.
Has anyone had this experience before? Can she push her bank to do more to help her?
Additionally, I am trying to decide whether or not to relist her items or to hold them for her. I am pretty certain she is being honest, she has been open and communicative about the entire ordeal. But this auction is in the $50 range and she understandably doesn't want to put out the $50 until she gets her refund.

She mailed it to me on Dec. 18th, 5 and a half weeks ago.
So that is a normal policy to wait 90 days, thanks for letting me know. I thought I had heard something about being able to trace the money order and/or stop payment on it. One of my buyers got a refund right away once, but maybe those were different circumstances.

I think a lot depends on where you get the money order (bank, convienence store, or post office). I had one purchased at a convienence store that I tried to have stopped, but it had already been cashed. It also cost me $8.00 to prove that the seller was the one who cashed it but couldn't seem to remember that little detail.
I realize that sellers prefer money orders, but it is NOT a good deal for the buyer. If something goes wrong, it is a pain in the rear and is likely to cost you an extra fee to figure it out.
