This has been laying around in my basement for years. I don't even remember where it came from. There are no marks or names on it anywhere. It's heavy, about 4 pounds. A search on eBay brings up nothing that is graniteware or speckled like this one.

Does anyone know anything about this type of thing?

Meya....Looks like a cast iron corn bread pan...I've sold a couple that were plain (last year BEFORE USPS raised prices )..never seen one with paint like that tho'....

Meya...

So do you think it's a graniteware enamel over cast iron? I've never seen one...I'll go check around and let you know if I find anything....

Hi Toke, yes, from the weight it does seem to be cast iron under the graniteware. I have two old cast iron cornstick pans that belonged to my Great Aunt, and it weighs just as much as they do, right about 4 pounds on the nose. The finish is very smooth.

I've had some other pans and a roaster that were graniteware, but the more typical thickness you get on pans and such. This is different than anything I've seen too. It is fairly thick...between 1/16th and 1/8th of an inch.

I found two graniteware corn stick pans...both gray...both dated early 20th century...one with 5 cobs, one with 6. Five cobs - $80 to $120. Six cobs - $70 to $80.

These were in my "300 Years of Kitchen Collectibles" book, by Franklin.

Could this pan be new? One of those lines of extremely expensive enameled cast iron cookware?

The newest it could be is from 1980 or so. It came out of one of two Great Aunt's homes, one of them died in 1987.

I suppose I could list it and say in the auction that I have no idea of it's age. The shipping cost could be prohibitive though. I could also just hang it on my kitchen or dining room wall.

I'd list it and say exactly what you just told me...and the weight I just searched eBay with every spelling permutation I could think of...also agateware...came up with zip. It's gotta be a rare one...even if it's from the 60's or something.

Unless you like corn sticks as much as I do...yum. That pan would make great crispy ones...
