I bough five of these paintings at our local vintage shop. Although only three are signed, the style of all of them suggest they were done by the same oriental artist. They are done on silk and I don't believe that oil paint was used, nor do I believe they are a watercolor. Has anyone seen this style of painting? (That is if my photo links work.) They are very bright colors and a gold was used to outline a lot of it. The signature has smeared a bit into the silk so I can't make it out at all. Could these have been done using tempera? I believe the paintings are older than the frames, which appear to be 1950's. Any glare on the photo is the glass of the frame. I'd like to sell these, but have no idea really what they are.<p>
If these photos don't show, won't someone tell me how to do it correctly?
Thanks!

This on is definately Japanese. The subject of the picture is Himeji Castle with Mt. Fuji in the background. The interesting part is that the two are over 300 miles apart, making that view impossible. Most likely, it was produced for sale to tourist.
