I had an auction end earlier this month that I had not received payment on by last weekend. I sent the buyer a note asking if they had overlooked payment. They replied that they had sent the money on 1/17 and to let them know when it was received. As of yesterday, I had not received the payment so I wrote him a little reminder this morning and made sure to include our earlier correspondence at the bottom of the e-mail. Here was his reply:
I do not know what item you are talking about. However, let me know what it was and how much it is and I will send you the money. You can keep what ever the item is. Since I only buy paper money at this e-mail address, please do not accept any additional purchases from anyone using my address, unless you are selling paper money. I assume that you are not selling currency, since, if you were, you would have already been paid. No additional requests for money will be accepted from your address. Send your mailing address so I can send you a check.
Nope, I wasn't selling paper money but the item is native to the area of his snail mail address.
I guess I'm cruising for my first NPB in several months. I knew it was too good to be true.

That is a bizarre response. Now my curiousity is peaked (right spelling?), what type of item were you selling?
Looks like a NPB especially you made the appropriate attachments of previous contact.

I've gotten that one before. The "I don't want the item but I'll pay you for it, just keep the money"
They remember, they are just trying to make you feel like a thief for asking for the money, and they are the nobel one. They generally pay, and I still send the item.
BTW, a College psyc student could do a very interesting thesis on ebay behaviour.
