I just received this email. Has anyone used this new service? They are offering $1 per each US Money Order we receive until April 30th.

Here's the email:

*****************************************

While I was cruising the online auctions last night, I noticed some of your
auctions.

I thought you might be interested in hearing about a new payment service
free to sellers that guarantees payment to you with no possible charge
backs.

It is called PayingFast.com

PayingFast.com is a new International Money Order payment service.

We send Travelers Express International Money Orders up to $500 for
auctions and other transactions. The buyer pays for the money order with
their personal checking account, from the convenience of their own
computer.

Since you are so involved with online auctions, you are probably promoting
one or more payment services already. What makes PayingFast.com different?

PayingFast.com gives you as the seller comfort in doing transactions with
buyers that have very little, negative or no feedback. We take all the
liability for payment on the transaction.

Most important for you as the seller is the form of payment. PayingFast.com
sends only Travelers Express international money orders. To you as a
seller, that means;

· Once the money order is sent, your payment is guaranteed. There is
absolutely no possibility of a charge back (unlike other payment services)
· You will always receive a money order for payment, which is as good as
cash
· You never have to reveal any of your confidential financial
information. Some payment services require you to do this.
· Buyer and seller both receive e-mail confirmation when the money order
ships, so you can send the merchandise faster

Because of your long-term commitment to the auction business, we would like
to establish an ongoing relationship with you, and sincerely hope you will
give us a try.

As a way of showing our appreciation for trying us, we are offering a
Seller's Promotion.

All you need to do is

· Register with PayingFast.com and enter promotion code PF321 on the
Registration page
· Offer PayingFast.com as a payment option on your auctions with a
PayingFast.com banner

PayingFast.com will send you, the seller, $1.00 U.S for every money order
we send to you.

All promotional payments will be sent to the seller at the end of each
month until the promotion ends on April 30, 2001.

We appreciate you taking the time to learn about our new payment service,
and wish you ongoing success in your business endeavors.

Sincerely,
Scott

$4.49 ? What do they have to jump in the ol' Mercury and zip down to the Kwick Pik every time they get an order?

YET ANOTHER E-Spamming get-rich-quick sprout-up-like-a-fungus-growing-in-the-pocket-that-you-keep-your-wallet-in company?

Wonderful. Maybe someone should invite the COO of THIS one here to talk about his/her wonderful service (just kidding)...

gravid: You think $4.49 is a lot - Bidpay charges at least $5 per money order - and I've had hundreds of orders from customers using bidpay.

IT'S SPAM!
Domain Name: PAYINGFAST.COM
Created on..............: Mon, Aug 14, 2000
Expires on..............: Tue, Aug 14, 2001

THEY SAY: "While I was cruising the online auctions last night, I noticed some of your
auctions."

TRANSLATION: "I bought that CD with a lot of eBay seller's names on it because I want to send a helluva lotta email to them in hiopes of making some money"

"I thought you might be interested in hearing about a new payment service free to sellers that guarantees payment to you with no possible charge backs."

I SAY: Yeah, sure, just like the rest of the wannabee services.

THEY SAY: "The buyer pays for the money order with their personal checking account, from the convenience of their own computer."

I SAY: "$4.49 and you expect the BUYER to trust you enough to hand over their CHECKING ACCOUNT INFORMATION! NO thanks dude, I'll send them to Western Union's MONEY ZAP for the same service, long-established company and better pricing. "

THEY SAY: "Because of your long-term commitment to the auction business, we would like to establish an ongoing relationship with you, and sincerely hope you will give us a try. "

TRANSLATION: I sure hope this SPAM works they way the guy that sold us the CDROM full of eBay seller addresses said it would. We need to make some money FAST to pay the rent!

THSY SAY: "As a way of showing our appreciation for trying us, we are offering a Seller's Promotion.

· Register with PayingFast.com and enter promotion code PF321 on the Registration page"

TRANSLATION: We want to track how well this spam run did. And maybe if we offer momey you won't turn us into our ISP for spamming.

*************

I'll pass, and I'll turn them in for spamming is they hit ANY of my IDs.

I love BIDPAY but I do think the $5 charge is a little steep, at least for US customers.

ExecutiveGirl-

Actually, this newest entry in the Great SpamScam Game's prices make BidPay's look DIRT CHEAP... For your own peace of mind DO NOT sign up for this garbage until you do further research, including going to their site and reading the fine print, then going to eBay's Board (just do a phrase search with PayingFast.com in it).

HAHAHA Abacaxi, I want to ask you a question-

IS IT EVER GONNA STOP?

Kinda makes ya feel like Michael Douglas in what's-the-name-of-that-movie where he just goes off the deep end <looking around for weapons to throw away before I lose it completely and hunt down these sc(p)ammers, fortunately finding none>

THE ABOVE WAS A JOKE I WOULD ***NEVER*** RESORT TO VIOLENCE I'M A CARD-CARRYING PACIFIST...

tentwentytwo: "Falling Down"? (Is that the movie you're referring to?) Good movie, BTW!

And no, I won't be signing up for PayingFast.com anytime in the near future...

I already offer about 10 different payment options as it is... I think that's plenty!

day1212: Let me get this straight. You have been "browsing" the AW boards here, but JUST registered today to post your one and only message on a thread that has not been responded to in 6 days? So you actually had to SEARCH for something about "PayingFast.com" so you could responde to it or you went through pages and pages of threads until this one just caught your eye?

Uh huh....

day1212,

Forgive the suspicion but Payingfast.com did earn it with me. If you look on the eBay message boards and do a search for "Payingfast.com" you will find they were doing some spam posts and weren't clever enough to cover their tracks and were caught red handed.

Given the those facts and the fact that Payingfast.com is mentioned on only 9 auctions on eBay and this is your first post it is naturally going to make us scratch our heads.

day1212,

I'm not sure how simply making an observation qualifies me as a "looser" [sic], but thanks! Your sincere apology is accepted.

Any service that feels the need to "spam" someone for business earns a heightened degree of skepticism from me right off the bat....and a quick "delete." I have become a lot more cynical about people quick to jump in and support new "fly-by-night" services. Unfortunately, when it comes to money, people's motives are usually more self-serving than altruistic. And I don't have enough money to let it slip out of my hands and into someone else's for no good reason. Caution is the better part of valor…isn't that the saying? If the service truly worked for you, though, I'm very happy for you.

Nah, Athena, it's discretion is the better part of valor, but you have my vote for AuctionWatch Diplomat Of The Day anyway...
