If you are a seller, sometimes does your winning bidder forgot to send out the check or decide not to buy it couple of days after auction ends?
Waiting for checks is kinda annoying sometimes, you don't know if the check is sent, you will have to contact the buyer again, wait for replies...
I am planning to offer a special discount on my next round of itmes, please give me some opinion about it. For buyer that will pay by credit card online (paypal, billpoint of others) within 2 days after auction, I will deduct 5% off the final price.
What do you think? I took internet marketing, and I believe making the buyer easy and fast to pay is the key, since they might decided to buy the product when they see it on site, but then if they have to write checks, they might forgot about it next day they wake up.

Yeah, and I think that some of them forget to put money in their checking accounts when they write a check and that is one reason I don't accept personal checks.
If I were considering offering a discount, I think I'd offer it on the "cash" (i.e. money order or cashier's check) sales because it would make me more money than offering it on the sales that end up costing more anyway (i.e. PayPal, Billpoint, where there are fees). Perhaps that would give them the incentive to remember to pay faster.

I think it is a very good idea. Put it in bold letters in your auction. I bet it might increase bidding amounts.

ha...thank you for the comments =)
Don't say "steal", just sharing my thoughts around, so feel free to use it if you think it can help you.
To sharkbaby, offering discount on "cash" is more cost effective, but it still takes long time to complete transaction. In my opinion it's really annoying when you have to wait for the check, go cash in the check, wait a day to see if it bounced, then go ship the item. =P

Yeah, that's true, John! I hadn't really contemplated that part of it as much as the transaction fee costs. And, hey, time is money!

The easier and quicker way to pay would be inviting, and a discount would be a real push. I think it is worth an experiment.

I think the discount idea sounds great for fast pay. On cash it would only work for the buyer on bigger ticket items as it would cost a minimum of say .85 to get money order. So for a buyer to just break even the item would have to be over 15.00.?

But you bottom line! Ebay Fees, Paypal/Billpoint Fees, Charge Backs etc. and 5 percent on top of that! The only ones who are really going to win are Paypal/Billpoint!
