How many times have you tried to list on ebay and get a little box that pops up saying this:

"Internet Explorer cannot open the internet site http://cg5.ebay.com/aw-cgi/ebayISAPI.dll.

The connection with the server was reset"

Sometimes the message says reset by a peer!

I am tired of this! What causes this. It only happens when I need to list at night!

Anyone else have problems with this?

That box means the site is down for some reason - they do maintenance a lot after midnight. The best thing to do is get your item descriptions all ready to go on a template - I use Note Pad or Word Pad, and then jam them all on the next day.

P.S. - I never did find out what a "peer" was either! Maybe it stands for "Person Exceptionally Excellent at Rebooting" (LOL)

The computer gurus will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it means your ISP server has reset the connection because the Ebay server did not respond within the allotted timeframe. Unless it's critical that your auctions end at that time (i.e. you're listing then because that's when it's convenient for you), consider listing through AW or some other site that allows you to upload listings for launch at another time.

If you are listing manually, this will happen a lot. You should use a bulklister. Trying to list manually, especially during peak hours is bad news.

I think the post a couple up is correct. I list manually and have very few problems. I think the problem may be your ISP. Have you ever tried a free ISP like bluelight.com from k-mart? try them and see how it responds. Sure ebay may be busy but they don't make money unless you sell and to sell you have to list.
Prepare for the worst but hope for the best!! Spuddy98

Are you using Explorer? Several of us here on AW have found that using Netscape when we list items eliminates this problem. I never get Connection Reset messages while using Netscape, except if eBay is actually down. I get them constantly if I try to use Explorer.

Birdwatcher is right on that!!

I always use Explorer but whenever this happens I just switch to Netscape and it is fine..
This only happens when I am listing and it sucks. List with netscape and you will not have this problem. I also use Opera and it works great as well..

Have no idea why this is,,but explorer does it ofen to me.

So tired I quit everything for awhile. Being a slow learner has a lot to do with my case though......how do I switch/find Netscape? May begin selling again if I get spring fever.........

go to www.netscape.com and you can download the browser, or order a cd. Or a lot of times netscape comes bundled with other software, esp. software that requires a browser to work well.

I always get that error when I try to RELIST through Ebud!

I just cut and paste the URL from ebud into explorer and it works fine.

I have used AOL dial up, TCPIP, and cable modem, mostly happens in Ebud.

I have lately been encountering a problem with double listings by accident. The confirm page doesnt load all the way so I hit refresh and wind up setting up duplicate auctions... I can tell the people at Ebay are pissed about giving me credits....and before they raised the rates, I rarely asked for the credits.

I have asked for more credits since they announced their fee increase than I did the entire last year selling... Go figure!
