Well, tis almost done. I just had sales end for the last of the apparel, and only have a few things left. Once the sale ends tomorrow, I only have about 8 more items to list, then its "ta-ta" as I have known "selling" on ebay. I will continue to sell on a "light" basis, and I feel kinda sad that it has come to this. Been selling for over 2 years I think...and now its time to "slow down" and treat it as a hobby. I got a RL job starting in 2 weeks and I have been furiously getting things cleaned up around here. Even get to see my dining room table now, and the ebay room is just about empty!! Can acutally SEE the bed and dresser!!!
Part of me is sad, part is jumping for joy. Even though I will continue, it wont be like it was, and it feels like a friend that has moved wayyyy across the country that is still a friend, but I wont see as much. My customers kept me afloat much of the time, but they cant continue to support me in everyday living expenses, hence the RL job.
Anyway...I feel dumb for feeling this way, because its just "ebay", ya know?

Tis a sad day indeed, when an honest, hard working seller moves eBay from the "job" category to the "hobby" category! Damn shame that eBay fees & the current economic situtation is driving the good folks away!....Maui, I wish you much success in your RL job & have little doubt that the eBay void you are feeling now will be replaced with a challenges & relationships in the RL! As for the cross country friend, the best part of those is when they visit (as you will visit or dabble in eBay) the thrill is soo much better than the daily routine!!

Good Luck! & Just cause you're not sellin' full time on eBay is NO REASON for you to disappear from AW!

Heya Maui --

Sorry ebay isn't what it once was for you. I came to ebay just as the bloom was coming off the rose (Nov'98), so things haven't changed much for me. I think I would miss certain aspects of the routine for sure...especially the "hunt" for profitable goodies, and some of the gamble when selling it off. I graduate from college in May and can't decide if I want to stick with this full-time or if I want to get back out into the workforce. I definitely miss being around people...ebay can make ya feel a bit isolated.

Anyway, don't think your feelings are dumb or too mushy or anything...I think it's natural to feel a bit melancholy when changing routines.

Hiya Julesy. Actually, I think I am really looking forward to getting the apparel I have hoarded back out from wayyyy inside the closet. AND, I get to buy NEW MAKEUP (that I havent worn in forever..no need to look nice sitting in front of this monitor). And, meeting people face to face again. Might get rid of this pc butt, eh? Might have some cool stories to tell over in RT too...will be working at a resort (3 of them, in fact), and if I have some good ones to tell, like, who got busted in the jacuzzi in the wee hours of the night, I will share (with no names, of course). And, I WILL find goodies from time to time to list on ebay. Just wont be like it was for the past 2 years. Glad its ok to feel mushy too and you understand WHY I feel that way.

Yeah come back and tell us some resort stories. Maybe you can get some "leftovers" at the end of the season to auction off.

That would be cool, Gravid. In fact, one of the resorts has this killer light fixture that looks like charles dickens street lamp from way back when (repo),and they mentioned using me to sell it for them. They have checked out my website and my feedback, and said since I already have a toehold in ebay, I can do the selling for them and get a commission. They are remodeling one of the places, and tv's and furniture is all being sold. Too bad its BIG stuff (too hard to ship). But, unique stuff, I will definetly want to list! And as far as the stories go...there is a jacuzzi in one of the "suites"....I can imagine what can happen, lol. Especially with tourist season starting up

VM, you said I was in for some changes, so I am guessing this is part of it? Im going with the flow, so to speak, and if its time for me to move on and leave ebay behind, and its in the stars, then Im all for it. Like I said before...Im saddened that it came to pass, but I saw it coming for a long time, so its really no surprise. You say its going to get worse? What? Ebay? THat doesnt surprise me either. But I can only get better, yes? At least, thats what you said

Right now, I am actually (surprise surprise to me) painting on canvas. Its been SO LONG since I have painted anything! Instead of hanging out at ebay and stressing over sales, I pulled ou the paints, lights, easel and I just finished the Hawaiian lady and now shes drying. Then, I have to add the flora and fauna...then I will touch up, then I will slap it in a frame, then I might...MIGHT...list it on ebay. So some good has come of this...my new job I am looking forward to, the people I met here in AW and will continue to visit, painting, and best of all...heh...I bought hair dye. All gone gray tomorrow. New job, new hair color

Maui - I am excited for you. You may not see it yet, but most of the people reading can I bet...
You are getting free.
Will ebay get worse?
Yes, but it is much bigger than that. People have stopped spending money and they are not going to start back next week or next month. We all *collectively* have too much stuff and too much debt. The tide has turned and we are not going back to the way it was.
Good deal on the hair and the painting.
Change your life.
The best is still ahead.
Be well.

Maui! I am both happy and sad for you! Glad you will still be here at AW, would really miss your fluffy threads.
I need to get out and find a real job too.[ VM told me it would be good for me! ]I just don't have a clue what to look for! Have to do it, this ship called home is sinking fast-Ebay just doesn't cut it anymore.

I envy you your table tops! Someday I hope to see mine again!
