I bought a book from a half.com seller. I paid for priority shipping. They shipped media rate. This makes me mad since I paid extra to get it quicker. Any way I can get my money back or anything? The post office actually was on top of things and I got it in the time frame I expected for priority, but I paid $2.25 more than I needed for shipping. Doesn't seem fair!

So then I could advertise priority shipping and then just pocket the rest of the money from every sale and get away with it? Not that I would do that, but how do we know that this person isn't?

The seller probably just made a mistake, and wasn't intentionally trying to cheat you. Most buyers choose media mail, and the seller probably just didn't notice.

Just go to "Your Account", then to the purchases section and click on the button that lets you report a problem, and half.com will most likely make the adjustment in price for you.

I agree you should get what you pay for, but why sacrifice your happiness over a couple bucks? Take that ten minutes you would have spent complaining, and go call someone and tell them you love them. I don't want to belittle your situation but it entered my mind today that I spend probably half my life working to pay for other people's ignorance and lack of self control. Social Security, ER visits that aren't emergencies, and crime are a few examples. It's a huge battle that don't care to spend my personal time fighting. Although taking a few minutes a month and educating people about their mistakes is worth the effort.

I buy and sell a little bit on Half.com, and can relate to this problem. I have stated that I will ship either by Media Mail or Priority. But I have no idea where to find out if my buyer chose Priority; I don't even know where to look! Half.com needs to make it crystal clear when the buyer is paying for Priority shipping. I'm liable to make this same mistake too.

I recently had my first and only Priority order, and it would have been SO easy to miss it in the long winded email we get from half.com. I think it was a mistake, but you never know.

I agree that it was probably a mistake. I've probably done the same thing. As far as I know, none of my half.com buyers has picked priority mail. I'd probably miss it if they did. It wouldn't be on purpose and I wouldn't even realize that I'm getting extra money.

In this case - esp. since you did receive the book in good time - I wouldn't worry about it. If it were Amazon - where you had the seller's email - I'd probably drop them a note but you can't do that on half.com.

I always copy and paste all the info: name, addresse, price payed, s+h, date, and so on, into my data file for IRS purposes.
If I woudn't, I probably would overlook the SH reimbursment, too. Very easy.
But I always include a little note with my email addresse and my username at auction sites. (Just in case they want to look what else I have)
Buyers have actualy let me know that they received the book!!!

From January 16th – January 31st I sold 209 books on Half.com. I allow my customers the choice between USPS Media Mail or Priority Mail. Out of 209 sales I have had NO requests for Priority Mail. I am so used to sending everything out USPS Media Mail. I KNOW it could be very easy to miss a request for Priority Mail. Out of all the sales I have made on Half.com I have had only one buyer request Priority Mail.

You do have recourses here. Half.com does have a way for you to request a refund. ” Go to "Your Account" and click the "Your Purchases" link. Find the correct order and click "View Details". Click the red "Report Problem" button and follow the instructions.

Second you can leave feedback on the seller and state you requested and paid for Priority Mail yet the seller sent it Media Mail. If nothing else it might make you feel better.

It won’t take that much of your time to file a problem report or leave feedback. If you do these two things it shouldn’t be to time consuming. File the request then forget about it. Like so many have stated it’s not worth the aggravation to really do anything more. Your time is worth something and too much time spent trying to recoup a few bucks just isn’t worth it.

Regarding feedback; as a seller I just hate to see when people are vindictive in their comments about something that could have been an innocent mistake. So the rule I try to follow is treat people the way you would want to be treated. State the facts and only the facts don’t make your feedback or complaint personal. It very possible the seller just made an error and had no intention of cheating you out of a few extra dollars.

jenn, I can just about guarantee you it was an honest mistake. Half.com puts the shipping preference so far down in the long-winded email they send the seller, that it just is not easily noticed. Then there is the fact that so FEW Half.com orders request Priority, the seller just assumed Media Mail.

I decided to take the Priority Mail preference out of my selling info, just because I was afraid I was going to make this same mistake.

Also - Half.com keeps part of the shipping/handling that you paid; the seller does not get it all.

I just made that mistake on an ebay sale. I sold a book, and the buyer asked for priority. I said yes, but then forgot when it came time to send it. I sent it book rate and refunded the difference.

But, it seems like it was a present for a prisoner and the guy was transferred to a different prison before my book got there. So now I feel really bad. But there's nothing I can do, except refund the entire purchase price (maybe I will do that, now that I thought of it.)
