Hi,

I haven't really kept good financial records up to this point, but want to come up with a system, obviously the least time consuming.
I have MS Works spreadsheet and Quicken, I don't know how to use either one, the only area I find confusing is the formulas other than the basic ones (addition...etc).

Does anyone use a program that automatically computes ebay's fees via a formula? If so what program and would you be willing to share the formula, also some suggestions on fields (info) that you recommend in these spreadsheets.

Thanks,
Joyce

Hi Joyce,

I use Microsoft Excel to keep track of my financial records, and it works out great for me.

Calculating ebay fees into a formula is not really that hard for Excel.

Email me at [email protected] if you would like to know more about this, or if you would like me to email you a sample excel spreadsheet.

jlady here's a program that is interesting: http://www.vrane.com/cgi-bin/sr It's supposed to calculate your sales on eBay for a period that you define, calculate your fees, etc. Give it a try.

Hope that helps,

I use excell i list the item, what I paid ,what it sold for, date paid , date shipped and gross profit.
I just use my monthly ebay bill for fees and i add all incidental selling related expenses ( last year i charged my digital camera and laptop to ebay expenses)
I have evrythig set up so it automaticly calculates when I enter a figure.
so I constantly can see my year to date profit . It took a little while to set up but it works great.

I use Quickbooks Pro 2000. It can keep track of inventory and when you print a receipt/invoice it takes the item out of inventory, warns you when inventory is low - and does all your basic accounting for you. My taxes are soooooooooooooo simple since I started using way back in the days of DOS!

To calculate FVF for eBay in MS works or Excel you might try a formula something like:

=O3*0.05+IF(O3>25,1,0)*(O3-25)*0.025+IF(O3>1025,1,0)*(O3-1025)*0.0125

where "O3" is the cell containing the selling price...

I sent out the example spread sheet to everyone that asked. If anyone else needs help, then email me.

I am happy to help anyone.

I actually used a different formula to calculate the FVF, but it works. I have not tried the one above yet.

Here is the formula:

=IF(I4>=1000.01,((I4-1000)*0.0125)+25.63,IF(I4>=25.01,((I4-25)*0.025+1.25),IF(I4>0,I4*0.05)))

Where "I4" is the cell that has the final bid price. It is an If Loop. I can explain how it works if anyone is interesed...

I have Microsoft Works just like jlady, and I also don't know how to use the spreadsheet or the database. If I ask taz8057 to send me her sample Excel spreadsheet, I am wondering if Microsoft Works will be able to open a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet? I know that I am not able to open a Microsoft Word attachment because I have Microsoft Works.

Does any one use the spreadsheet in Microsoft Works?
