Does anyone else find that their auctions are not being bid on until the end? I, sometimes, get hundreds of hits, and no bids 'til the end. Is it becoming the "snipers" auction to get it without bidding up the price?

I've been getting lots of multiple bids the last couple weeks. But you will still find lots of last minute bids too! That makes it fun...you watch something sit there all week with one or two bids and then in the last half hour it gets several.
I have capitalized well on the Valentine's Day thing and sold lots of fine jewelry, leather goods, and cookware the past couple weeks.

sharkbaby, that's great! I don't have items that could be used as Valentines Day gifts. I'll have to keep that in mind.

Yeah, I try to think ahead of all the little holidays as well as the big ones. People seem to buy a LOT of stuff on ebay for gifts. At least in my experience.

My sales have been slow. I am thinking of taking another break, perhaps until April. The gas bills should be coming down a bit by then too. So, unless I find something that is a sure thing, I'm gonna let this bunch of auctions finish, then relax. I've got 9 running, with 2 bids. Each of those 2 are single bids.

Ditto what Meya said. Since I know it will be asked, I sell a mixture of items. Mostly books. This is the slowest in sales I have had since October. Time to take a break here as well.

Recently sold a bunch of CDs.... One received 127 hits, only 3 bids.
On the other hand, I had one CD receive just one hit during the ten-day listing, but in the last 10 minutes, the CD received 6 bids and sold for double what I wanted.
I've learned over the years that you just never know what's going to happen....
I don't even bother trying to figure it out anymore.

What bothers me the most is when regular customers say they really wanted an item, but didn't get it.
Turns out they use esnipe.com which bids for them in the last 5 or 10 seconds of the auction closing.
The trouble with this thinking, is there are only about a thousand other bidders using esnipe.com.. I don't know of too many computers that can handle that kind of volume in 5 or 10 sec..
So esnipe is good for buyers and bad for sellers. Makes me want to rethink the reserve option (but I hate reserves) or start my items out higher??
