>>On Ebay my main catagory sells honestly probaly 99% of the time on the first listing. Now I do have other things I add in that are probaly only around 60%. But I am using my main catagory for comparison here.<<<
How convenient. Why base your comparison on average sellthru rates when you can justify eBay's excessive fees with a 99% sellthru rate.
Which reminds me, I have an 85%+ sellthru rate, on the free sites, with my $50 to $100 graded cards and jersey inserts. Why use average sellthru rates when I can provide "proof" that I have an 85% sellthru rate without paying fees.

Ebay vs Bidville - Official Comparison Part II
I checked for an item I collect on both Bidville and eBay. Out of 20 or so available items on Bidville, the starting bid is higher on every one of them than either the last similar closed auction or currently running auction on eBay.
Looks good for sellers, if you can get bidders to pay more on a site that has a fraction of the selection that eBay does. And no fees, to boot!
By the way, I see one auction with 28 days remaining. Is that for real?

potatohead, I don't understand the mentality of the sellers that do this. No wonder the items just sit. I check the completed auctions on eBay and price my items on Bidville in the same price range. I'm content with saving the fees.
It doesn't bother me when I look at all the overpriced items with no bids, because I know I can sell for less and make good money. I am a little skeptical of sellers who claim their items just sit on the free sites and sell right away when they move them to eBay. I'm wondering if they forgot to mention that they dropped the minimum bid or buy price when they had to pay listing fees.

Not only can you list for 30 days but you can use the auto-relist option to relist the item up to 99 times. That's about 8 1/2 years. This really bugs me when I have to manually relist my 10 year items. But its worth the extra time because after 10 years all the items are collectibles.

I hate RESERVE PRICE AUCTIONS and have NEVER run one. I start my items out at a very fair price and most sell.
These sellers that start their items out WAY TOO HIGH are afraid of selling too low but is not selling at all better than making 15 or 20%??
It's their stuff and they can sell it however they want but I've left many auction sites frustrated with either high prices or silly reserves.
The statement below is TRUE
The statement above is FALSE.

If you are going to qoute me in a thread please be polite enough to let me know in advance. You have been asked for proof of your sell through rate over and over on the other threads you start on this same topic. I personly asked you for it. Are we talking sell through on the first go around? Well now you say you can provide proof the lets have it please. I used the main catpgory because you stated you sold sports cards. That is also one main item. I do experiment with other things. I did state I look at and test other sights but you constantly ignore these facts.
PROVIDE YOUR PROOF SIR!

Also one more item here. It is continually stated that people are trying to "justify" Ebay fees. As I have said and is ignored I do list on other sites. I am not JUSTIFYING anything I make more by a long shot on ebay after fees than any other site I have used. But I imagine that is just one more FACT that some people would prefer to ignore.

Proof that these are isolated cases and do not represent the norm. I look at the completed on auctions on eBay on a regular basis. I have all the proof I need. You can track all the items and all the sellers you want on any site you choose. This imformation is readily availble.
You do not want "proof". You WANT to believe eBay is your only option. You NEED to believe eBay is your only alternative to justify paying their fees out of your profits.

Poster offers no apoligy for using my statement from a prior post that he did not reply to there to run and begin another thread with it.
Poster said he could provide proof.
Poster does not provide such when asked.
Poster states Isolated case is not norm.
Poster wants to use his isolated case as norm.
Poster once again disregards statements of
my personel listings on other sites.
Poster uses the buzzword justify again while ignoring my staement about such word
We are told over and over that we can look at closed auctiopns for proof.
Everytime someone mentions the closed auctions or open ones they look at on free sites it is ignored.
I believe someones profession is trying to get attention not auctions.

I have stated repeatedly that isolated cases do not represent the norm and do not offer ANY isolated sales as representing the norm.
I have responded to your comments more than once. And you continue to believe what you WANT to believe. Sorry I can't help you.

LOL....When other sellers stated that they had similar success after leaving eBay and listing on free sites, surfsworth stated that he did not want proof from them. He would only accept proof from me. "The proof is in the writings!".

If you have an abundant supply of fast selling items with a good mark up take it to eBay. YOU WIN!!!!
Back to the reality of a 65% sellthru on eBay. If on average, you are listing 3 items to sell 2 with a 50% mark up, you should ask ebay about their health plan, because you are working for eBay.
If you are listing 2 items to sell 1 eBay owns you. Fortunatley, slavery was abolished, so you can move your items to one of the free sites and start working for yourself.

I'm mainly just a lowly buyer here, but am currently interested in computer games, because I'm trying to sell off some old PC games of my husband's because I *really* didn't want to buy another cd rack to store them all.....so just out of interest, I went to Bidville and looked there...
The site was awful looking - had a hard time navigating, especially once I clicked on a category. Once I saw the first page I had to *hunt* to see page 2. A lot of stuff was 'copies' of game - oh how helpful! But gee, I have a CD-RW - I'll copy my OWN games if I need backups and it's *illegal* to sell them to someone who doesn't own the CD (I'm SURE everyone is checking that the buyers do, eh? Wink Wink Nudge Nudge?).
NOTHING in the category I was looking at had bids on them - that does NOT inspire confidence and everything could be bought in the bargain bin at my local electronics store for LESS than the auction price.
And what WAS with that 'English' auction thing? Why did I have to click on a link to find out that an English auction is basically a normal auction?
Why is the search box hidden? Why is it in the far bottom right? Why are PC/console games under 'computer'? I doubt ANY search on the web would lead me to a computer manufacturer if I wanted to find a PC game.
I wouldn't consider listing the few games I have to sell on there and I won't be going back there to search for *anything* I may want to buy.
I'm happy your sellthru rates are great, but they sure as hell won't be including me. I realize eBay has some real problems for sellers but as long as the other options are like Bidville, buyers will NOT be flocking over - at least this one won't.

I find Bidville fast and easy to navigate. I particularly like the subcategory layout. If you are having problems with pages loading, the problem may be with your ISP. This is a common problem with AOL.
