co-op MISSION STATEMENTS review

First let me thank those that responded to my request...THANK YOU!
Here are the responses I got for the call for a MISSION STATEMENT.

I request from 10 posters but not limited to them.
5 responded to my request.
2 have continued to post on the boards and chose to ignore my request.
2 posters I haven't seen them on the boards since my request. So if you see this Magazine_Guy & Auctionfool your statement are still very much welcome. And that goes for anyone else that wish to add to mix.

So far we have 3 VERY GOOD statements to work with.
What I'd like to see now is for 1 Statement made useing the best of the 3.

So all you with the flair for words and the writing skills(I have neither) I'm asking you go to work and bring us back a KNOCKOUT MISSION STATEMENT.

Once we get a number of final drafts to work with. I will post them to a new thread for a VOTE.

MISSION STATEMENTS:

toyranch:

Mission Statement:

We help people trade practically anything on earth. We believe that people are basically good. We believe that each of our customers, whether a buyer or a seller, is an individual who deserves to be treated with respect.

We will enhance the online trading experiences of all - collectors, hobbyists, dealers, small business, unique item seekers, bargain hunters, opportunistic sellers, and browsers. The growth of the co-op community comes from meeting and exceeding the expectations these special people.
Our mission is to create and maintain a person-to-person global trading marketplace which provides a level playing field for all who use it. We are dedicated to promoting a safe and vibrant venue for the economic and social enrichment of our unique community of individual sellers, small businesses, collectors, and all who enjoy the pleasure of people trading with people.

Mr.Jim:

Mission Statement:

The goal of the Auction Co-op is to provide Buyers and Sellers an Auction site and community that is driven by the needs of the users. It is the intention of the Co-op to divide the decision making power equally between these users to ensure the interests of the community are protected.

All revenue generated by the co-op will be reinvested into the co-op in such a way that will best benefit the membership. This will include but not be limited to upgrades in equipment, additional support services, and advertising.

The Auction Co-op shall be self-supporting and will not accept outside advertisers or partnerships that would compete directly with any of its members.

It is understood by all members that the co-op will operate in a Democratic manner in which each member shall be entitled to an equal vote in any matter that effects the future and direction of the co-op.

The long range goals of the co-op include negotiating discount business services for their members, such as Group Medical Insurance.

As for Fee Structure, Catagories, Allowable Items, Financial Structure, and such ...
That is for the Co-op members to decide.

All specific references to what a "User" actually is (seller, buyer, or both) ommitted until there's a consensus).

twinsoft:

I'm no good at these things but I think the words "cooperative," "education" and "self-determination" should be in there.

And we heard from fountainhouse & dman3

One final note.....you may want to print this out for a better look and study of it.

THANK YOU for your CO-OPeration

Do you take suggestions for others not actively participating at this time in the Co Op concept?

From reading all the messages, comments, and debates about the co-op, I think the mission statement could be simpler.

"Our mission is to provide a format and forum for users to exchange products, services, and information in a friendly, positive manner, and build a community looking forward to the future of person-to-person e-commerce."

It's been awhile since I took business courses, but I think mission statements were not paragraphs, but single sentences trying to answer the question, "Why are we here and why are we doing this?"

You are right. The Mission Statement for the Howard Johnson Company was:

"To become an integral part of the community by providing quality food and beverages at a reasonable price"

(I had to memorize that when I went into management for them in 1977)

And yes, everyone's thoughts, ideas, help, assistance, input, and opinions are not only welcome; but actively sought.

Is there any additional comments to this thread before it gets locked down?
Is anyone working on making ONE GOOD Mission Statement?

Perhaps you failed to notice that all the co-op threads in the "EBAY" Outlook have been locked?

This theme was sent downstairs
