I take almost any form of payment but tried three auctions where I said I would accept FLOOZ. One finished without a bidder, one finished high but the bidder paid by credit card and the third one paid by FLOOZ.
What weird forms of payment do you accept? I have heard of sellers accepting Amazon.com gift certificates before and in fact my sister and I use this as a means of settling up what we owe each other ever so once in a while (she lives 300 miles away).
Always interested to hear your ideas...I will accept practically anything if it is likely to increase sales!!

What is FLOOZ? Also, I do accept postage stamps as payment.

I've seen FLOOZ gift certificates being auctioned on eBay. I don't know if I'd take some weird gift certificate that I could only use at a limited source of retailers.

FLOOZ is a form of internet currency promoted by Whoopi Goldberg of all people. The retailers that accept it include Tower Records and Barnes and Noble. Also Starbucks. Check it out at www.flooz.com or use the link above. It's a weird idea!! So I certainly don't have trouble spending it on things which I would probably buy anyway but pay by other means.
I wasn't suggesting that anyone else take FLOOZ in their auctions. It's not everyone's cup of tea. But it provides an easy way for me to send someone in the US flowers for example (I live in the UK).
I wanted to hear about other weird forms of payment people accepted. Postage stamps are a good idea. I take those too but only from UK buyers. I give change in US stamps though, to save mailing coins to people who buy from the US and insist on sending $$$ in the mail.
You don't have to have accepted weird stuff yourself, maybe just seen it or heard about it. Urban myths, y'know. I don't mind. Nothing serious. Have some fun and maybe learn something about your favourite auction site!!

Now there is a good idea, I certainly would want most of my auctions paid in it but a few of them would be okay. I could call it my fun money : ).

whenever i have a buyer from the UK I ask them to send me some Cadbury Crunchie bars in place of some or all of the postage. a couple people have sent full postage plus the Crunchies. One fellow sent me money, forgot the crunchies, and later sent me some crunchies anyway (guess he liked the item). I keep hoping I'll get an Irish buyer so I can ask them to send me some Bewley's tea.

This is just another twist for a form of trade that has existed forever....bartering.

This will cause a laugh. I actually paid for an item with condoms! I bought a few posters from this guy on ebay. He saw a few of my auctions and wanted me to pay with one of the auctions I had running - Condoms!
I am not sure who got the best deal, me or him...

I pay one of my suppliers in New York With Pralines From Evans. A great candy shop a few blocks from me. They were rated in top 10 candy shops in US. She gets what she likes and I get great jewelry. I also have a customer in England who pays me in Specialty Cigarettes. It's all for fun.

Sending stamps is a good idea, instead of sending coins. I sell a lot of postcards, and *hate* to mail coins in the envelope because I'm sure it'll dent the card. I list in my tos to only send cash in absolute necessity, and to round it up to the nearest $1 (or $.25 for sturdy items) -- but I get cash all the time! Don't people have checking accounts? It's like I'm a bank or something! Sorry, I'm rambling now, I just had to vent! )
