Please help, this is a bit long winded! I just got set up with stamps.com. My goal is to be able to print out postage and have the USPS come to my home twice a week to pick up my packages, thereby saving me time and gas. I mail about 35 packages each week. Problem is my local post office claims that I have to take the packages to the post office so the delivery confirmation form can be scanned and so that the delivery confirmation receipt can be stamped showing proof of mailing. Stamps.com clearly states that I do not have to go to the post office when using delivery confirmation unless I need the proof of mailing. I do not need the proof of mailing. I am content knowing that the package will be scanned on delivery. I have mailed more than 800 packages and never had one lost. If I have to go to the post office when using delivery confirmation then I will not be saving any time - I will still have to wait in line!!!

I've been using stamps.com for over a year. The only way to put DC on your packages is to wait in line at the PO. You can put the 35¢ (or whatever it costs) on your packages, and put the form on your packages, but you still have to have the PO scan the DC slip, stamp it and hand it back to you. That's your only proof that you mailed it.

Have you had a chat with a supervisor to explain that you don't need proof of mailing?
What do they do about packages w/delivery confirmation that are dropped in a blue box... send it back to make you stand in line?

Some folks here at AW have nice mail carriers who pick up the packages, scan the DC at the P.O., then return the stamped slips the next day.

I use Stamps.com and DC on everything. I leave them for my carrier but I take my part of the DC off first. It's not stamped, but I write the date it was picked up on it. Works for me.
