I've been a buyer & seller on Ebay for about 2 years now. My feedback is over 700 all positives except one negative. Last week I won an auction & used Paypal to send the money. I don't have a credit card on file with them & I don't want to give them that info. Because of their new verified shipping address rule, the seller now has to go & accept the payment. A few days later the seller writes & says that since the item sold for alot of money {$126} they rather not take the chance & sell it to me. I wrote them back & tried to explain that the money comes directly out of the funds that I have in there from selling. They still refused. I wrote to Paypal & asked why can't they use the info. from my personal bank account that they have, to verify my shipping address. They responded 2 days later giving me answers that had nothing to do with my question. Wrote them back Tuesday & still haven't received a response. Does anybody know of another way? It's getting to be a pain, writing to everyone that I send money to & explain that they have to go to Paypal accept the payment.

How new is this? I have gotten payment from unverified uses, and it just shows up. Does it have to be a certain amount for me to have to go and "accept" it? Thanks.

I have a verified premier account {whatever that means}. I just don't use a credit card for anything there, so I never gave them the info on it. They use this info to verify that your shipping address matches the billing address of the card. I just don't know why they can't verify it thru my bank information & since I never use a credit card, I'm not a risk of a chargeback. I can't see where I could be a risk to the seller.

Tell the seller that you don't have a CC on file with PayPal. Point out to the seller that if they click on the 'pending' link in the transaction log they can look and see that the source of the funds are from a non credit card source.

Tell the seller if they go to their payment preferences page and click on "Verified Shipping Address Preference" and look at the bottom of the page.

Warning: The potential drawback of always denying payments without the Verified Shipping Address information is that you may be restricting some users from sending you money. Some PayPal users do not have credit cards registered with us, sometimes because they do not have credit cards. By requiring a Verified Shipping Address, you will be denying these users from being able to send you money and may lose some sales. You can avoid losing these sales by choosing the manual option, which allows you to selectively accept payments without the Verified Shipping Address.

If you've pointed all this out and the fact you have feedback over 700 and the seller still won't budge then you'll have to send some other form of payment to one paranoid seller.

I had one of these unverified address payments. No problemo. Then there was an uncleared echeck for the payment itself. No problemo. I shipped the item right out.

PayPal has many roadblocks between the seller and bidder just to cover their assets.

I wonder if that seller wants to pretend he's in business or actually is in business.
All he has to do in most cases is check to see if you have an address in an Internet phone/address directory or use eBay to ascertain the shipping address town matches the one given.
