I have received a message from a potential bidder who says he can't bid because the bidding page won't load. Has anyone encountered a problem like this? I am stumped, because I can access the bidding pages during the times he says he can't and I think that the problem may be with his computer.

Here is the message he sent, and I would greatly appreciate any help I could give this potential customer so that I can turn him into a buyer!

Hi,
I was trying to place a bid on ebay for "your widget". But, the page never completely loaded where you insert
your bid price.
I would like to put a maximum bid price on the "widget" of $xx.00. The
current bid was
about $xx.00. How do we go about getting my bid in , with the ebay page
problem.
Please get back to me. Thanks.

Did you use any of your own HTML in the auction? You could post the auction number if you want so others could check it too.

meya is exactly right. look at your html beyond the description bar ebay provides and look for two table tags in a row.

right after you have THE GOODS, you have an open table tag.
right after you have your postage, you have another open table tag. you need to put a close table tag before your postage info.

i would check for further missing close table tags in case there may be more

Netscape is the (free) browser to check your auctions in...it's the least forgiving.
It will tell you if you are missing key tags.
No need to go to a validator like the w3.org ppl have or get Opera (non-free browser).
What I do to check my code, because I also use tables a lot :

just add
<html>
<body>
tags to the top

and
</body>
</html>
to the end of your listing. Open it in a browser from hour file and see how it looks.
Then dump those tags, copy and paste into the listing box and you are good to go.

Good luck

edited to add....I also toss a border onto my tables to check them out, especially if you are getting fancy with rowspan or colspan...then you can remove it by setting it to "0"

Thanks, All! Now that I know what the problem is, at least I can check my other auctions. However, I can't edit this one because it has a bidder. Guess I'll just have to start another auction for the second bidder.

I appreciate the tips about checking the ad in Netscape. I never thought about that.
