Hey guys...maybe I haven't been in on the eBay selling scene long enough, but this is nuts. About what percentage of looney bidders do you think you get? I got a guy today asking me to sell his cd rom for him, and also asking to send his product before he sends the money. Ok, so what kind of fool does he think I am? And why in the world does he not want to sell his cd rom himself? My guess is that he's some 13-year-old playing with daddy's account. (Since, of course, the account must be opened by somebody over 18, as it requires at registration!)

I recently had a winning bidder email me with every detail regarding the status of his payment. On one day alone I got 10 emails! This is not a “newbie” either… Just a sample of the emails I got:
“I am leaving right now to go to the Post Office to purchase and mail the money order. I will let you know when I return.”
“I just got back from the Post Office with the money order. I wasn’t able to mail it because I forgot to bring your mailing address. I will get the envelope ready and mail it tomorrow. By the way, the serial number of the money order is XXXX…”
(Next day) “I am going to the Post Office today. I don’t want to put it in a mailbox in case something happens to it, so I will hand it to a clerk personally.”
“I took the payment to the Post Office but the clerk couldn’t guarantee that it wouldn’t get lost in the mail. I didn’t mail it. Can I still pay with PayPal?”
(BTW, I don’t accept PayPal!)
“Ok, I will pay by Billpoint. I will let you know when I am done.”
(5 min later) “I am having trouble entering my credit card information with Billpoint. Can I just email my credit card number to you?”
“I just signed up for Billpoint but I can’t remember the password I used. I will let you know when I remember it.”
“Remembered the password. I used my wife’s name. You should get payment shortly.”
After a total of 5 days and 32 emails, I received payment and the item was shipped. Everything turned out OK (we both left positive feedback for each other) but I was hesitant to list anything new for a couple of weeks… I needed a break after dealing with this bidder!

THERE IS ONLY TWO ANSWERS TO HOW THIS GUY'S WIFE MUST BE...
1) She is about ready to enter a mental hospital due to her husbands every hour on the hour phone calls from his job on what is doing at work that day or hour and from him being on her heels all the time at home.
2) She has the poor sucker walking on pins and needles about how he spends his waking hours and wants a daily report several times a day or every hour on the hour.
BTW... I can see the poor guy sitting at his computer checking his e-mail every hour of everyday until the item arrived at his door. Hoping that he would get a play by play in return from you.

I think he was just stalling you because he didn't have the money right then to pay. Sort of like the ones who don't mail their check or money order, then keep bugging you to see if you have received it (when they know you haven't because they didn't send it!) and then offer to stop payment on a $8.00 check (and probably pay $25.00 to stop payment) and mail you another. I've had some bidders stall payment for a month with these sort of excuses.

I have ran into a few of those in my time. Just the other day I had two(not one) bidders almost curse me out via email because they had not received their merchandise. Both stated "I paid by paypal 3 weeks ago and have not got my sticker yet". Immediately went to my Paypal account and guess what......no payment from either bidder. I emailed and told them to check their paypal account to see if the money was deducted from their account. They both emailed back and said the money is marked as "unclaimed". Most of us know what that means, the idiots entered the information incorrectly. They still acted as though they were mad at me, go figure. I had no idea.

It ain't just the bidders. I had a seller email they got my payment(billpoint), and would have the item in the mail the next day. This was followed by six weeks of every other day email. "went to the PO but forgot to bring your item, do it tomorrow." "Misplaced your item, I sell a lot of stuff. Will send it as soon as I find it". "Found your item! Will ship tomorrow".
It finally came, by then I didn't care, Ijust wanted the email to stop.
