Does anybody know what this chicken thing is for? It's made of pottery and is in one piece--the lid does not remove. There's a big opening in the tail and a little opening in the mouth. It's 3" tall to the top of the tail, 5" long and 4" wide. The auctioneer where I bought it said he thought it was some type of humidifier that you'd set on a wood stove--fill it with water, and the steam would come out the bird's mouth. My husband, on the other hand, thinks it's one of those pipe things for smoking illegal drugs. Also--although it looks generally like a chicken, it has "horns" on its head. I'm a country girl, and I have yet to see a horned chicken! Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Maybe it's a bong.

Oh, I'm sorry! Did I say that?

Can't help, but it's kinda cute!

Hi Joyce!

I had a pitcher similar to your chicken pitcher, but mine was in the shape of a blowfish. It was a Japanese sake pitcher.
