I currently use PayPal and BidPay, and am considering BillPoint.

I am concerned I am loosing sales to sellers that accept Billpoint - Because the sellers can search Ebay for only items that accept BillPoint.

I do not want to use Billpoint because it is more expensive, the chargeback issue, and I don't want to give Ebay any more of my money.

Do many people use the Billpoint search and Instant Purchase options?

I am looking for opinions from buyers and sellers before I decide to use Billpoint.

You are using Paypal and are worried about Billpoint? That's like saying you're hooked on crack but are worried about the effects of a beer.

If that's the case yisgood, why have you offered PayPal on your auctions and not BillPoint? Are your statements and actions ever going to match at some point?

I use both PayPal and Billpoint.
I get very few Billpoint payments compared to PayPal. Ten to fifteen PayPal payments a week and only one Billpoint payment every week or two. (I only list about 30 auctions every week.) But Billpoint beats waiting for a check any time!

Because Paypal used a sleazy viral marketing campaign to convince folks that people who dont accept it are somehow untrustworthy. By accepting it (non credit cards only) I get to inform a lot of those hoodwinked folks just how bad Paypal is. And at least 9 out of 10 thank me for the info and switch to Moneyzap.

As for my not mentioning Billpoint in my auctions, just because they're better than Paypal (which doesnt say much) doesnt mean I *have* to accept them. Western Union's Moneyzap does a great job in preventing fraud and currently they're free. So between Moneyzap, Achex, Bidpay, Paypal non-cc, checks and money orders, I think only deadbeats can't find a way to pay me.

So when someone asks if they should accept BillPoint you imply that they are silly to accept PayPal and not BillPoint. But that doesn't apply to you? Aren't you special.

I have not taken paypal until lately, was using Exchangepath (gone now) and Billpoint electronic check, personal check, money order. Sold most items. Unless the terms have changed just recently, there is no charge to the seller for accepting the electronic check, but it is VERY slow to receive confirmation on. The Billpoint notice to buyer is a little weird, too. Used one as a buyer for the first time this week, and got pretty confused by the procedure. One of the confusing things lie in the fact the email Billpoint sent said I could pay on the auction page. I looked there and the pay now icon wasn't there, but the request an invoice was. Lo and behold, the invoice lie behind waiting on me, already. Until they start charging, I'll use them on the checks, even if I have to wait. No bounced check charges that way, somewhat more secure and maybe easier once you tread the water a few times.

Time to take that remedial reading class, Uaru. The person posted that they were afraid of Billpoint because of charge back issues but were accepting Paypal credit card payments. Paypal is probably #1 in charge backs and reversed fraudulent payments. There have been posts claiming they even reverse non-cc payments, which leads me to think I may have to stop accepting even these. Being worried about Billpoint but not Paypal is silly.

Okay, sorry yisgood, I guess I read things into your post you didn't say.

You are using Paypal and are worried about Billpoint? That's like saying you're hooked on crack but are worried about the effects of a beer.

See I thought that hinted in a sarcastic tone that the seller would be better off accepting BillPoint than PayPal, PayPal being crack and BillPoint being beer. But since your auctions accepted PayPal and not BillPoint I can see now that I was in error. I forget to balance out what you say compared to what you do, since they aren't the same things.

I just wanted to know if my buyers want to use BillPoint. If I will make more sales using Billpoint, than if I don't use it -- then it is stupid not to use it.

I am very unhappy with Ebay's policeys and customer service, I do not want to deal with their companies any more than I have to.

BillPoint is more expensive.
After the rate hike and recent down times - I don't want to give Ebay any more of my money.

I see many complaints on here about Billpoint charge backs, and I see none for Paypal.

I don't see what all this has to do with crack and beer.

Time for a new pair of glasses. I see a Billpoint complaint perhaps once a month. Paypal complaints about a dozen a day. Did you look in the Paypal section right here? Or on Otwa? Or on Ebay's boards? The Better Business Bureau rated Paypal poorly, not Billpoint. The Wall Street Journal had an article about Paypal's poor customer service, not Billpoint. There have been dozens of articles about scams, stolen credit cards, possible hacked accounts all with Paypal. I haven't seen any about Billpoint. Being worried about Billpoint while happily accepting Paypal is like being concerned about the effects of beer while happily smoking crack.

I've seen very few complaints about Billpoint chargebacks, too. But I've seen dozens about PayPal and new ones almost daily posted on several message boards I read.

From a buyer's perspective, what I really prefer about Billpoint is that I don't have to sign up for anything. I don't have to have an "account." I just pay. When I buy on eBay, I use Billpoint and money orders exclusively. I won't use PayPal. The money that goes into my account goes out to my intermediate checking account almost immediately. .

So you guys are saying Billpoint is safer than PayPal....

Are many buyers using it????

I am mostly concerned about making things easy for my customers.

I know that it is very hard to charge back on PayPal - If they let you do it at all. This favors the seller.
It seems Billpoint has a no questions asked charge back policy in favor of the buyer.

I am willing to take any payment my customers want - I just don't know if they want Billpoint.

In my experience, yes, and in increasing numbers. Plus, I get a lot of eBay newbies, so I point them in Billpoint's direction.

Please take some time and read the PayPal forums at AW and at OTWA. There are far more stories of PayPal chargebacks and frozen sellers' accounts than you may know about.

I use both PayPal and Billpoint.

More buyers are using PayPal to pay me still.

However, if a person uses "Buy It Now" from me, they usually pay me via Billpoint.
