We got our first negative (173 unique positives) and it was unwarranted. The buyer sent payment 12 days after the end of the auction and we shipped them item the same day, leaving positive feedback at the time. The guy apparently never got it and negged us a month later, saying we didn't answer emails. We never got any emails after we sent the item and assumed he had gotten it. We responded to his neg with "Pmt rcvd 1/18, item snt 1/18. Buyer never notified be didn't rcv item." We then contacted the buyer and emailed a picture of our mailing receipt and said we had sent the item, but if he didn't receive it, we would send another. His email worked this time and we will send the item.
We never got any emails stated he hadn't received the item, or we would have taken care of the situation then. When we send it this time, we'll send with delivery confirmation or by certified mail and when we get a receipt, I thought I'd try contacting eBay to see if they would remove that negative feedback (it really bugs me).
Do you think it will do any good?
Thanks,

Hi, mreinkec - I don't think you will have any luck getting that feedback removed. For a list of the reasons eBay will remove feedback, go here.

Consider it a lesson learned.
Feedback is to be left when the transaction is complete
The transaction is not complete until the buyer receives the item. Leave feedback then, never sooner.

I had one removed recently after a buyer left it on my userid by mistake. It took about 15 emails and the buyer's help to do so. In addition, I met one of the ebay requirement's for removing a feedback.
I am afraid that you will have a tough time as you do not meet any of ebay's requirement. If the feedback contains some derogatory remarks, than you may have a chance.

I fail to see how holding off on leaving feedback to the buyer until they indicated the item was recieved would have prevented the negative.
Some folks simply shoot first and ask questions afterwards.
This seller responded to the unwarranted negative and hopefully the buyer will follow-up when they receive the item.
Holding off on feedback to the buyer would only have afforded the seller the opportunity to retaliate.
The better solution to these types of feedback comment problems is for eBay to make feedback comments and rating modifiable and deletable by the user who initiates the feedback.

SquareTrade will charge the person filing the case $15.00 for the priviledge of having a negative feedback removed.
By the time the required mediator enters the picture, the situation can usually be resolved between seller and buyer.
Expect feedback removal to take 2 to 8 weeks to complete.

How would this have helped in this case? The only thing this does is leave the seller the option of a retalitory neg (VERY unprofessional). Just because the buyer left an unwarented neg doesn't mean the seller has to.
Greg
P.S. I will say, the buyer MAY have thought twice before leaving the neg if feedback had not been left for them, but in many cases this is not true.
edited because I screwed up the formatting.

I have just the exact oposite problem now.
Left a neg on a NPB, 29 days afer auction ended..no responce to any emails. The day after I did bidder reappears from nowhere, apologizes, pays for the item plus double shipping, somehow had deleted the emails etc etc. Nice person and all and I said I would try to do something about the feedback.
Do I have a chance of getting it retracted?
I'm sure Ebay will have no problem swiftly reversing the fee credits.
