Ok I have over 1k worth of feedbacks. As a seller I try to and do, ship the same week of payment. Fair right? So, I by a $6.00 handrill on ebay, Pay Pal the buyer and three weeks after auction end I'm still waiting for the item from the States, which I'm in.
The answer from the seller is-(Dubious at best).

Hi, It really doesn't matter when the auction closed. What matters is
when we actually receive the payment for the item. We try to ship MO,
and non clearing items in 1-3 days, and check payments in 8-10 days. I
think in checking I found that it either was shipped out on sat, or if
it missed that day, with the holiday it went out on tuesday. Today is
only thursday. I apoligize for the delay in your receiving your drill,
but please relax, and it will arrive. Please let us know when it
arrives. Thanks again, xxxxx

Well that was the beginning of this week. It's been three weeks now. What recourse other than that lame feedback thingy have in recovering the lousy $9.00 which included shipping? Also, if this is the way sellers treat some buyers, it's no wonder we get poked at from time to time.
I'm mad at the lack of professional sellers on ebay. This knucklehead has no neg's ... get what's gonna be at his doorstep on Monday! A well deserved neg'.... Geesh, that was my first buy on ebay too, and it sucked!
So, how does one go through the process of getting the money back or item purchased? What is your horror story on being a buyer, not seller?

I buy a lot of stuff on ebay. Some people ship fast, some are slower. It's not worth getting upset over. I've never used paypal, maybe it took him awhile to get the payment.
I would never leave someone a neg. until I had tried every way I could to make the deal work.

My sympathies. 3 weeks is too long to wait after a PayPal payment - I agree with you. I seem to run into these slllooowww shipping sellers all the time too.

if i receive a paypal payment i ship the next business day (if possible) and my buyers usually have their merchandise in 2-3 days. i think it is only fair that if someone is going to engage is selling on ebay then they make their best effort to ship in a timely manner. sometimes i wonder is some sellers get in over their heads selling too many items and cannot keep track of what was paid, shipped etc... just my two cents.
posted on February 24, 2001 10:55:27 AMeastwest Huh? You think 3 weeks in the wait after paying for an item is ok? Shipping is in the US. I think you should stop selling anytime now! Treat your customers a bit better particularly when you're payed within 24 hours afterall -that is the agreement or contract per ebay. Not to say you should ship with 24 hours but 21 days later is a stretch. Come on-

Well, it's been about 2 1/2 years since I mailed off my $350 MO to the "Seller" in CA, and I still have nothing to show for it, either, except for a very thick folder of papers with my copies of letters & complaints to FL and CA authorities, Postmaster General, eBay, etc.
Too bad, it was the first (and last) time I've tried to purchase a larger-priced item.
A leery buyer who is alerted after not receiving their paid-for item after 3 weeks of waiting pisses some sellers off? Are you kidding???
Prima Donna Sellers piss me off. They're the ones that feel justified charging $5.00 to ship an item with a $.77 stamp on it, too, I'd bet.
I know, recovering overhead costs and so forth... yeah-yeah. I'm a "seller" too, at times. But for most of my buying needs I now go back to WalMart.

EMPIRES, 3 weeks is a long time, but just for clarification, was your PayPal payment via CC or bank draft? The latter could have been responsible for some delay.
EASTWEST, why should you be offended by a buyer who wants his/her product shipped as quickly, and has gotten no results? If this were a brick-and-mortar store, wouldn't you expect quick service?

I do not know what all the fuss is about!
The item could of been shipped in a timley manner and lost in the mail. We all know that the USPS will not even take action on a shipment that is not late by 30 days or more.
There are statements in lots of threads that priority sometimes takes as long as 6 weeks to get somewhere, and media mail delevered to an address in the same state sometimes takes as long as 2 months, or at least that is what I have read in other's posts.

I'm guessing that the seller may use a supplier who drop ships. This could account for several weeks even after recieving paypal payment.

That is really too bad that your first experience at buying was like that. When I receive PayPal payments, I ship out within 24 hrs. I don't blame you for being upset... I bet if this seller had to wait 3 weeks for their payment, they'd be peeved too. It doesn't sound like he/she is too organized since they really don't know when (or IF for that matter)it was shipped. I have never had a delayed Paypal payment so that cannot be used as an excuse. When I do buy from eBay sellers, I have been requesting a confirmation (35 cents) so at least I know it was shipped. IF you decide to give us sellers another chance, that may be something you want to request. Good luck!

TammiAndy- I'll still do some buying on ebay/other auctions sites. But, I'll be sure to list my requirements for shipping terms prior to bidding. A simple, Priority mail with delivery confirmation is fine for me and I'll pay the costs. I think the point here was, if sellers are so unorganized that we can't efficently deliver the product to customers, then the results from survey's may be true, in that, customers had bad experiences buying on the web. We as sellers, here, can change that. The item bought was a small item, (test purchase), not drop shipped from somewhere else, and paid pay pal cc no less. I dislike incompetent sellers and will make my suggestions to ebay for what it's worth regarding shipping terms etc. Maybe they'll place a button there on the form.

Please be aware of the fact that the Post Office does not always deliver within a reasonable amount of time. You talking about leaving this seller (who apparently has a wonderful track record- with no negatives, and seems to be responsive to your email) makes me a bit edgy. Over 3 weeks ago, I mailed a shirt out to one of my customers by priority mail, and he JUST NOW received it. Thank goodness he was very patient and trusted my feedback record, or I could have had a negative through no fault of my own.
This has happened to me once before as well- I sent an item priority (within 24 hours of receiving payment which is my habit) and it took over a month to get to it's destination. Again, a very patient bidder who understood the foibles of the Post Office and who didn't assume I was trying to rip him off.
I understand that you are frustrated and irritated, and with good cause, but keep in mind that it may not be the seller's fault. I would think fairly hard about ruining this sellers perfect track record without further communication with them.
posted on February 25, 2001 11:47:27 AMEmpires-The email you received from the seller in response to yours sounds almost like a form letter. Not a good way to answer a customer with a problem, but....
If I were you I would check my PP account for the exact day the item was "completed".
Then I would email the seller again and ask for a more specific answer to your question.
Ask them exactly when they shipped your item.
Nicely tell them you aren't interested in their policy you are interested in specifics about YOUR transaction.
Let them know WHEN the PP payment was shown as completed.
If it turns out your item was indeed mailed in a timely manner, it could be lost in the mail. That isn't the seller's fault, BUT the seller needs to start a tracking request on the item. Let them know that is what you are wanting them to do.
It it turns out, they didn't get around to mailing until you asked where your package was (a posibility), then let them know you are really disappointed in their service. I would not hesitate to ask for a refund 3 weeks after payment is a long time.
If the problem cannot be resolved, then leave appropriate FB.

Hi As a seller and a buyer I have had to wait 30 days for payment many times, and,I have waited for items I bought on ebay 3 weeks lots also.It may have been lost in the mail,he could have listed too many items and is having a hard time keeping up (which is not your fault, but it does happen).I once sent a large hockey game from Canada to Texas that took 7 weeks!!! So it may turn up yet.Anyway I hope this doesn't turn you off ebay or online auctions.I can understand his frustration at your email as I just had a buyer email me saying I sent my payment 7 days ago and still have not recieved my purchase !! Well most of the time it takes 7-8 days for payments to get to Canada from the states, and in this case I hadn't even recieved the payment yet. This is the type of stupid question buyers deal with on a continual basis,so they/we sometimes get a little annoyed at peoples stupidity. You do have a legitimate gripe, but I bet it comes soon.Thanks.

hi,i'm a seller and from time to time I get no answers from some peopleand I had one person that never answered 15 emails from me spaced about one a week, come to find out he was in a car wreck and in the hospital,I felt bad then and sent the item to him with a no charge and a e-card to get well soon, and an apoligy for so many emails, that person is one of my best buyers now,and I got sick and was in the hospital for a week and I had to email everyone, but I still have zero negative feedbacks,a lot of things could have happened, and you do have a another course of action.but this does not happen often, for the most part everyone who sells do not want negative feedbacks.howddyyyall
