Well, after a year of working a real part-time job, I have found myself selling online again. I really didn't realize how much I would miss selling this way.
I sold for 2 years on the online auctions and decided to find myself a real life part-time job.
I forgot what working a real job was all about. Having to be to work at a certain time, putting up with the boss (which was family, not my family), juggling kids and their events, making dinner, trying to clean, etc.
I am now back online and really did miss it. I guess even though that this can be a pain sometimes (ebay charging more in fees, etc), I can truly say I am happier doing this then anything else.
Glad to be back.

I couldn't agree with you more! I work part-time and use ebay to supplement my income. However I will be quitting my job soon and selling more. I can take pics, list, pack, ect... with my kids around. I can talk with them, help with homework, take them to doctors appointments. All without having to worry about if I will get in "trouble" for taking the time off.

I guess I'm just clueless... I've tried to sell what I thought were some pretty neat items on eBay... I start my prices as low as I can and I no longer use reserves or anything like that. I keep the listings simple and post as nice a photo as I can...
And nothing!
I get little to no bidders, and end up selling about $15/week! yuk. What am I doing wrong?
I did attempt 2 auctions a few weeks ago (I guess you can check my ended auctions), just to test out the waters. Again, nothing.

Rigdon625aolcom....this is not meant to be sarcastic. If the item you are trying to sell is not selling, even with a low price, then the problem is that it is not desireable in this marketplace...the buyers on ebay don't want it. In order to correct the problem you need to find items that will sell on this venue (and yes, it is easier said than done).
Not taken as sarcastic, for sure. I do agree that most eBayers apparently either have a knack for desireable items or their listing/sales ratio is highter.
But I do have a few friends that do casual listing and it never ceases to amaze me how they'll post less than five items and not only sell them all but make a nice profit (and I mean simple items like a backpack or something).
Oh well... I just need to realize that I have better luck buying than selling, LOL

Rigdon625 -- Sometimes is takes 2, maybe 3 times for something to be listed before the right person sees it.
I've listed things that have ended with no bids. Sometimes I'll relist them immediately and watch them go pretty high. I almost feel like emailing the winning bidders and saying, "You know, you could have got this last week for much less!".
If it doesn't go after 3 times, I give it up for a while, maybe putting it after in a few months. Sometimes it will go then.

rigdon625aolcom, one thing you might want to try is to ask the folks here how you can improve your auctions. Just start a new thread, include a link to one of your ended auctions and ask for suggestions.
I should warn you though, you need a thick skin to try this. I would do it, but I'm too chicken.
