HI all - while I didn't get the actual b-flute cardboard yet [still mulling over the mailorder option], I made a mailer today as a test, using regular cardboard and my heavy stapler. Question: the book is snug as a bug in there, but do you ever have customers complain that the wrapping is too tight? Or does the padding take care of that?

Hi keziak,
I go to furniture stores and get their heavy cardboard that furniture comes in, they have it cut up into pretty big pieces.
I custom cut them down to the size I need with one end folded over(like a sandwich).
I mainly use them for magazines, sheet music, newspapers and anything that can travel flat.
I bag the item and I leave a 1" space of extra cardboard around it, use my heavy stapler to close it.
On the outside I write "DO NOY BEND" - "open carefully".
I've always have gotten good reports from the customers on how grateful they were that it was so well protected. And I can ship them media mail and they are always grateful for the cheaper postal rate.
As far as books with a binding...I don't know, maybe if you could add an extra bend on the fold. I've done that with mags that have a thick binding.

I made a cardboard mailer once for a weird sized book. I have not gotten a single complaint about my packing. Stuff should be snug and well padded regardless of method. How you do it doesn't matter nearly as much as the fact that you do it.
