fattyman: regardless of whether or not we "like" the fact that eBay raised it's fees, eBay complied with their own terms of service by giving the membership 15 days notice.
If there was some other "point" being made in this short thread, I failed to see it. *sigh*

regardless of stated terms it is unprofessional to give less than 30 days. stating it in their terms just means they are showing their unprofessionalism up front.... my post stated noting about my feelings towards the rasing of fees it only stated my feeling about unprofessionalism BY ALL mentioned above........so maybe you didn't see the point because you have a reading comprehnsion problem........as for the nice day i do not have to try, every day i am above ground is a good one, regardless of your "blessing" *sigh*......oh yes also ms dottie BM

I don't understand why 30 days notice is "professional" and 15 days is not? It seems to be the best definition of professional is "adhering to well publicized terms and conditions" which it appears that ebay did?
And I don't see where ANYONE said it was "OK" (or not ok) to be unprofessional or anything. I just saw some very to-the-point answers to the question being raised - how much notice was given.
Now, if you want to talk about "friendly" or some other more emotion-laden terms, then perhaps 30 days notice IS more "friendly" than 15 days, but that's another discussion altogether.

The notice may (or may not) be UNFRIENDLY -- I'm sure it was designed to put the maximum CRUNCH on folks by making it as difficult as possible to seek alternatives!
GOTO did the same thing to us!
Whether or not these SHORT LEAD TIMES is "professional" or not -- well, banging ones head against the wall over this question seems an excerise in futility!
The sites will do as they please; one abides with their terms or one leaves!
The lesson I've learned over the past 6 weeks is that NONE of these sites care a whit about me...business is business is business!
I no longer feel compelled to CUT SOME SLACK for AW or GOTO or any of them!
Now that they have established a COLD & BUSINESS-SERIOUS relationship with us, WE NOW HAVE THE RIGHT TO DEMAND FUNCTIONALITY!
AW & the rest of ya: time to PERFORM! You are now ACCOUNTABLE to your:
PAYING CUSTOMERS! (for, that is all we are to them -- NOTHING MORE!)
posted on March 2, 2001 06:11:01 AM new[email protected] was just a curiosity question.
eBay raised existing fees and transformed the 10 day aution into a different breed. A modification of sorts to an existing plan.
YAHOO became a different species in 7 days but there had been buzz for a few weeks so you could smell it coming pretty clearly.
AW seemed to blindside me ~ of course it makes rational sense that they would begin to charge, I just didn't feel it in the air.
That FVF thing threw us all for a loop, no?
The other changes didn't seem to sneak up on us like this.
and that was the point of this short thread.
No offense intended, no assault weapons needed. It was just a question.
Thank you blondesense, auctionqueenie, dottie, and captainK.
sorry, fattyman, I didn't mean to ruffle your feathers. Just trying to put this into some sort of warped perspective. First day on the threads and attacking the posters already? I, too, hope you enjoy your day above ground. Not a blessing, just a wish for you that you find some sunshine!
