Is anyone fed up with the new post office rate hike? If I sell an item for $5.00, the buyer ends up shelling out over half the amount in shipping fees. As a buyer I've stopped bidding on a lot of items because the cost of shipping doesn't make the purchase worthwhile unless it's something that's hard to get etc.
As a seller, I have started offering bidders the option of 1st class, parcel post etc. to try and keep their costs down. The new Media Mail rate helps if the item qualifies. In a few cases, the buyers have gotten their goods almost as fast as if they used priority.
And there's a rumor another post office hike is due next year. Both the little guy and the bulk seller will be hit bad. Maybe the post office is getting tired of all the business we are giving them. By the condition of the packages I am receiving, I'm certainly getting worse service for the increased shipping rate. And trying to collect on an insurance claim is pure h---. It's like the post office looks at you first as a crook trying to pull a fast one on them then someone whose one of a kind item was smashed to bits by their carelessness....Sharon

My favorite rant.
This is why the all the 'scam-s/h' threads annoy me. 95% of my auctions are going out Priority and 95% of the s/h fee goes to the post office. It's aggravating to only something for 10 bucks and then pay 8 bucks to have it shipped out. Once you get over that 2 lb threshold it gets worse.
I'm going to check into Fedex Home Ground next week. I've heard the rates are much lower and the packages are insured.
