Does anyone here actually have a recordkeeping system that WORKS?!?!?!?
I was using ebud but it hasn't worked since ebay changed their email system(and getting tech support to help has been a joke). I learned"to rely on ebud to keep everything straight"is a BIG no-no.
Please share your tips........

A database system that you print out as well. Upload the systems to private files in the file drive www.hehe.com and save the printouts too in a binder. Always keep a hardcopy

My recordkeeping system is so old fashioned but it really does work for me. I'm not a "major" big time seller (I average about 50 items per week although I would do more if I had more to sell!) so it would be impossible for someone with a large turnover to do. I use an index card box and index cards. I write down the closing date, the item number, item title, winning bidder's ID, the amount sold for, date EOA was sent. When they respond I put that date. All information is kept on the card, when I package, mail, etc. I used to keep a "system" in the notepad on
"My Computer" but I just couldn't keep track well enough, I dont know why. I think writing things down and keeping track that way helps me remember more. I have sections for "completed" "NPB", etc. Old fashioned and I'm probably the only one who does it but hey to each his own right?
Oh BTW. I am BURIED in snow. My bank *is* open if I can get there and the post office *is* delivering and open But we are supposed to get pelted again today and tonight

libbyparsons.....That system would work great if I could somehow figure out how to print the info from the printer onto the index cards. I average 100+ auctions a week and all that writing gets tiresome(I used to do it that way).
auctionqueenie....I'll look into your suggestion.

I've been using AuctionAmigo & can't live without it. Note to anyone considering this program: price goes up at the end of this week, so if you were thinking about it, now is the time to decide!
They have been quick to keep up with eBay upgrades & support has been prompt the couple of times I had a question.
I've been using their program for free all along, but I will (gladly) be paying for the upgrade.

I use a simple database program; you could also do it with a spreadsheet program like Excel or Lotus.
Each of my 'records' consists of the item number, description of auction, winner's email, final value, paypal fees, ebay fees, listing fees, AW fees (NOT), a total profit field, and then checkboxes, one for mail sent to winner, mail received from winner, payment received, item sent, etc. I have additional boxes to track if I've filed NPB's and FVC's.
This is quite easy to set up; if you need any further info, please contact me at [email protected].
PS. It's not always a good thing though. I can now see quite clearly that on an auction ending for .99, all I end up making is .34 , and that's before AW fees.
I forgot to mention, I also keep all the emails related to a transaction in a separate folder by the winner's email address. Once the user has left me feedback, I remove the entire folder from Outlook.

I usually just cut and paste the item number, etc, from the ebay emails. The final value fee field is automatically calculated along with the paypal and profit fields.
However, I'm a very fast typist, so the 40 dollar way may be better for you.

Hmm... now you've got me thinking... with the almost 100 auctions per week that I've been listing lately, that 40.00 is sounding better and better.

Rowane -- If you are tracking each e-mail user via mail folders, I suggest you look into Caelo's "Nelson Organizer". I just love this program! It lets you "combine names", so different e-mail addresses from same buyer can be combined into one "logical" folder.
I don't know about you, but many buyer's e-mail, Paypal e-mail, and their eBay e-mail seems to be different a lot of the times.
Nelson Organizer does much more, but this is my favorite feature.

I love AuctionTamer myself. It's a complete post-sale management program. It automatically fills in all the auction info. for you. And because it's software, not web-based, customers who don't like giving their info. to a third party will not object to it.

Zkatt,
I have had problems with ebud and eposter took forever to get it working, I assume you have updated to 2.62 and its still not working. What fixed the problem for me was that you have to upgrade your Internet explorer. I was running IE 5.0 and Ebud and eposter would not work was told to download IE 5.5 Upgrade, Once installed ebud and eposter worked great. Hope this helps.

autumnmoon,
I did have IE5.5. When I downloaded their upgrade and tried to install I kept getting an error message.
I still haven't heard from them....
I had to run a recovery on windows and lost ebud so I'll try and download it again(although I don't know why).
$150.00--there is NO way. If I knew all the problems I'd incur with it I wouldn't have paid $40.
