I have one Chanel purse that doesn't have the authenticity card and box. It's definately an older Chanel and it does have a tag inside it that is leather with the name Chanel Made In France. Is there any way to tell for sure that a bag is real? The person that these came from would have never knowingly purchased a fake. I don't think she ever set foot in a flea market or anything. With it being older it wouldn't have the hologram/serial number inside it. They didn't start doing that until the late 70
s I believe. Any help would be greatly appreciated !

About 6 months ago someone here at AW had gotten their auction for a Chanel cancelled under the VERO program. Then they received an email from Chanel that stated the bag would have to be authenticated by THEM!!!! They said she couldn't just take it into a store that sold them for authentication.

Thank you ! You are absolutely right. I called Chanel and I have to send pics or the purse to one particular person in New York. If it's real they provide a letter of authenticity. If it's fake they confiscate it and send you a letter why. It's a pretty easy procedure and in this day and age with all the fakes it's better to be safe than sorry.

you can also try veniza.com fashion auction site. They have a trusted seller program although I'm not too sure what it means. I saw one chanel bag and lots of louis vuitton.

Could you post the phone number for Chanel? I bought two at an estate sale and ebay cancelled my auction because I didn't guarantee authenticity. These too were older purses.

The phone number is 1-800-550-0005. They will tell you to write :
Beth Cohen
Chanel Corporate Office
15 East 57th Street
NY, NY 10022
You have an option of taking a lot of pics to send her and if she still cannot tell you'll have to send the purses. I'm just sending the purse. From what I understand it's harder to tell on the older ones because of the lack of serial numbers so they have to go on the tags and quality. Mines going out on wednesday so I'll post on how they really operate.

Thanks for the information. I have a friend who works for an airline and sometimes the Louie's get ripped and the owner would like them to send the bag back for repair and if they find out the bag is a fake they keep it. I guess that's fair.

I have had two Chanels that were purchased before the serial numbers and holograms.
Both were purchased by my mother and I at at a department store that had a Chanel dept.
I sold the first one about a year ago and had no problem from e-bay.
I listed the second one about a month ago and ended the auction early because I decided to keep it.
I had no problems with e-bay. I explained the history of each bag. Maybe it helped since I was the original owner.
