Hi: How many are having this problem? I recieved a email today through the new Ebay mail system. It was from someone asking me if he bid on the item would I wait an extra day or so for him to send pymt. Well of course I will! BUT the auction ended on sunday, and I just receive the Question today. Now how in the H-ll can anyone me,you,or even ebay make any money if buyer's questions don't make it to you till 2 days after the auction??? I myself have asked question's and did not receive a copy till 8-10 hours later, didn't receive replies till 24-36 hours later!

Tell me about it.
The "ebay pipe" bites.
I've missed a few auctions because of the sloth of their system.

This "contact the seller crap" was implemented on eBay Canada several weeks before it was on the eBay USA site.

I had numerous buyers use the online form via eBay Canada, before most USA sellers & buyers even knew it existed, AND, on average it takes all of 2 minutes [or less] for those questions to reach me. I've yet to have one come in late.

I also have a link for my email addy on all of my auctions, and most buyers use the online form. Go figure?

Hi reddeer,
How do you make a link on the auction page to open an e-mail to you?
Can that be done?
I'd like to put such a link on my auction pages so they can e-mail me direct and not go through ebay.

Thanks in advance....

Hello Packer,

Here's the HTML

<a href=mailto:[email protected]>To Email Me Click Here</a>

Just insert your email addy, and I know you don't use AOL.

I might also suggest that you place the link near the top of the page, I just moved mine.

And if you want it in the center of your page, just add this:

<center><a href=mailto:[email protected]>To Email Me Click Here</a></center>

When someone clicks on the link,an email will pop up with your addy in the "to" field.

It's HTML magic!

edited to add - Thanks Capriole!

Got to close your tag

example

<a HREF="mailto:[email protected]">Words to get your customer to email you</a>

If you don't close your tag the remaining text will be clickable as an email addy...which is not necessarily a bad thing!

Good but slightly better to do it this way:

<a href="mailto:[email protected]">[email protected]</a>

or if you want to get fancier try:

<a href="mailto:[email protected]?subject=Ebay Inquiry"> Click here to email me </a>

The second option auto adds a subject line to the email.
Of course you'll eventually get a bit of spam doing this but I like to make it as easy as possible for the bidders to contact me. I haven't received a single mail inquiry via the new ebay form. They always use the clickable option.

Capriole...we posted at the same exact time.
I was replying to Reddeers post then saw yours after I posted.

I really don't mind my address out, I'm still using my email address as my ID and Ebay hasn't asked me to change it yet.
It's helpful to have the address spelled out
in text for those who occassionaly are on a system without an e-mail system...that way they can cut/paste your address right from the web page. Also a lot of people are printaholics. They like to print pages for later reference. If your email address is hidden in the link they won't see it on a paper hardcopy.

If spam becomes a problem, and it's always real apparent when I get Ebay harvested spam just kill the spammers at http://www.spamcop.net
I love to kill spammers in my spare time.

This is Great,
Thanks everyone for being so helpful.
I've beem tweeking my ad all morning and "By Gove, I Think I've Got It".

I added Billpoint change my personal gallery code to include it in the title, added the email links AND finally made a name for my little business.

I guess all thats left to do is get my butt in gear and get some descriptions wrote. I don't like that part

Thanks again ever so much

I asked the moderators if they could add an HTML/Auction set-up help forum.
I thought there was an HTML section when I first started here, but of course the traffic is here, maybe that's why it's gone now?
