I've been off ebay for awhile and haven't kept up with the changes that seem to be flying around. I want to know if it's okay to contact a seller and tell them you'll meet or exceed their reserve if they will cancel the other bids and end the auction early. Providing you can get through to them past the new "big brother" ask-the-seller-a-question feature. These people are newbies who are trying to sell something left to them by inlaws that they aren't gonna use. Not regular ebay sellers. I thought they might weird out to be asked this.

What's this (on another thread) about AW "going away" and all of us not being able to post questions and answers anymore. Is that really going to happen? Is this message center going to be history soon? I've been away too long!

Thanks in advance for any info/opinions

From SafeHarbor, under the heading of "Selling Offenses- Fee Avoidance":

Canceling a listing to sell the item to anyone who contacted the seller through eBay, or became aware of the item through eBay.

You should know better if you've been around eBay any length of time! If you are interested in meeting or exceeding the reserve then BID. End of story. Ten to one if they end the auction early they'll never hear from you again.
