Just happened upon a Ebay user that has -11 feedback, total 15 negs, only two positives. Most recent negative given just today! How can this possibly be? I thought -4 and you were NARU?

I don't think the Ebay system is automated to NARU bidders like this. BUT, report it, and they will be NARU soon enough!!

Did a lot of the negative feedbacks come in the last 24 hours? Ebay is automated to automatically NARU anybody with a -4 feedback rating. However, as with auctions showing up on searches, it takes awhile for the servers to update the information in order to catch up to and NARU the offender.

What is NARU?

They started getting negatives on Feb 28th.

NARU= not a registered user

I thought you had to be registered to bid?

The way I understand it is, ebay's system NARUs someone based on the FVFs filed, not the negatives. Sometimes someone will be NARUd and only have one or two negatives, but four NPB/FVF will have been filed. I have had it happen to me where I file the FVF first and then go to leave the negative, only to have the person be NARU already.

georgeviscomii

It means not a registered user ANYMORE, but the person was a registered user at one time.

georgeviscomi,You do have to be registered to bid. That is the point! This user is still registered. Ebay should have NARU them at -4 feedback but they are still bidding.

Can anyone confirm if eBay really does a NARU after 4 FVFs filed or are they pretty loose about it?

kyna - the FVF request form is the quickest way to get somebody NARU'd, but accounts will definitely also get NARU'd when they meet or exceed the -4 feedback total. Which raises the question of whether or not this person's negs were a result of sales or purchases - if purchases, the should have easily had at least 3 FVF's filed against him and been long gone, provided sellers are vigilant about this sort of thing. This sounds like these negs almost had to be a result of a seller who didn't produce the product.

rawbunzel - he received his first neg on the 28th, but the real question would be at what point did the cumulative total feedback hit -4? If that was in the past 24 hours or so, Ebay's servers may not have updated to NARU the account. And although getting 8 negs over the course of one day is rare, sometimes people are hesitant to start posting negs until they see others have done the same, at which point all the people screwed by this individual come out of the woodwork and start slamming the negs - I've seen it happen before.

blacklabel - Ebay most definitely suspends accounts after 3 FVFs have been filed against an account - 3 FVFs suspends the account for a month, 4 FVFs suspends the account "indefinitely." I know because on more than one occassion, I've been the person to file the third FVF. Then I tried to go back to leave a neg on the person's feedback, only to find I was unable to do so because the account had been NARU'd - so yes, the FVF suspension takes place immediately. I learned my lesson - I now leave my neg for any deadbeat bidder before I bother filing the FVF, otherwise I might not get my two cents in!

They hit -4 on the 2nd of March. All negs are for buying not selling. [they had 4 on Feb 28 but two were from the same seller]

Feedback.
You may not take any actions that may undermine the integrity of the feedback system. If you earn a net feedback rating of -4 (minus four), your membership will be automatically suspended, and you will be unable to list or bid.

Well jeepers, if they hit -4 on March 2nd and all their negs are from purchases, they should have been NARU'd a long time ago. I'd point this out to SafeHarbor, they've obviously slipped through the cracks somehow. I'm especially disappointed to see somebody get that many negs and not have even three sellers file FVFs! (unless, of course, those were submitted but fell through the cracks as well).

Once an account reaches -4, the person cannot list items, bid on items, or post feedback.

The suspension of accounts due to feedback has always been a manual operation (i.e., somebody has to report the account to [email protected] so it can be suspended). They will eventually automate it, as they do when an account reaches 3 FVF's.

You often can get well below -20.

I got up to a -44 before NARU, but they usually NARU me before -20.

I have been through over 40 IDs, and usually I get well below -15 before I get reported.

I have several IDs now that are below -10.

Patel,

What are you doing to have that many negs all the time ??

Apparently nothing good.

If my memory serves me correctly, Patel has a problem getting people to accept his shipping charges and can rack up lots of NEGS quickly 'cause he likes to do Dutch Auctions.
