Hi any one know what pay pal are doing with us UK users, only after today we are unable to transfer money to our visa cards and as they dont reply to emails i suppose we are no longer able use this service. Some may say good but it would be nice to know.

If you have any money in your account, transfer it out now.
If you don't have a non-visa card, you may find it more difficult to transfer money out (though it sounds like that is a problem even if you DO, from some posts).
Their feedback/information sucks. The customer relations appear to be beyond that....

Hi,
UK users will be able to transfer their monies to a bank account.
Here is the notification that went out to impacted users-
Dear PayPal Member,
When PayPal expanded its service to non-US residents in
November, we broke new ground by allowing our members to
withdraw funds from their PayPal account and deposit them
to their VISA card. The process of depositing funds to a
credit card was a new one and something that the credit
card associations are just now beginning to explore.
VISA and MasterCard are currently developing programs to
permit fund transfers to their cards, and PayPal is
discussing with them ways to participate so that our
members can transfer funds to their cards in a manner
approved by both associations. However, until such a
program is operational we will be suspending the practice
of withdrawing funds to VISA cards starting 7 March 2001.
We are pleased to inform you, however, that after this
policy becomes effective, we will also be introducing the
ability for members from the UK to register a
local bank account in order to withdraw funds. We will
send you additional information about withdrawing money
from your PayPal account into your bank account as soon
as this functionality becomes available. As always, you
will still be able to register a US bank account with
your PayPal account, as well.
We apologize for the inconvenience this change in our
VISA withdrawal policy may cause. Due to this
inconvenience, effective today PayPal will **NO LONGER
CHARGE FEES** on withdrawals to international VISA cards.
We recommend that you login to PayPal at your earliest
convenience and review your account status; if you have
a balance, please withdraw it to your VISA card.
If you have registered a VISA card with PayPal and have
not withdrawn your entire PayPal account balance by 7
March 2001, PayPal will automatically withdraw the entire
amount to your VISA card. No withdrawal fees will be
charged.
Please note that this new VISA withdrawal policy will
not affect your ability to use your VISA card to pay for
PayPal payments when you send money or shop at the 3
million eBay (tm) auctions that accept PayPal.
Again, we apologize for any inconvenience this change
might cause you. Thank you for helping to make PayPal
the world's #1 online payment service.

Dear Mr. Stafford,
Thank you for contacting PayPal.
I apologize for the delay in answering your email, you will not have to
close your account. Because you can add your UK bank information on the
account or an US bank account and have the funds withdrawn to that account.
At this time, you will still be able to withdrawal funds to your credit
card. The new feature will be available in the near future and you will be
notify when the update happens.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us again.

HI suz23,
I am sorry to hear of your issues. This may seem like a silly question, but were the bank accounts correct in their information (routing transit and bank account number) or did you receive a rejection notice?
If they were added properly and you have seen funds I was wondering if you requested the withdrawal? A common misconception is that the money is automatically withdrawn to a bank account (the user has to log in to request the withdrawal).
I can have your issue looked at if you email me at .

PayPalDamon,
"The process of depositing funds to a
credit card was a new one and something that the credit card associations are just now beginning to explore."
I really have to wonder about the legitimacy of this statement. Europeans have been using combination credit/debit cards for at least a decade now and the process of ADDING funds to a credit card is NOT a new one. Funds could easily be added by both business and personal transactions. I know this because I watched my Norwegian bro-in-law do it on many occasions and was awed by the ease of it.
In my own experience here in the States, I have never had a credit card company that had any problems with adding funds into my accounts if the source was a commercial one. I would assume that PayPal is a commercial source.

Hi all
The UK account info is now active . I've just added mine and started a withdrawal.
The subject of why this is happening does still confuse me though.
I work in retail and we do refunds to customer's Vias accounts all the time. What's the difference here?
Have a good day!!

THanks palpaldamom but guess what~ the mistake was mine! I take all my hasty words back. I thought it was like billpoint ie put into my account when it said completed! Finally got an answer from paypal who explained step by step ( which I confess I needed ~ a computer person I am not nor a figure it out person!) and I had the funds sent to my account! I still can't believe that I have the brains to even do auctions, much less be fairly successful! ( O,K. so my husband says that I spend so much time doing them that I probably make $ .50 cents an hour but that is us money to canadians~ I don't like the color but I love the exchange! So good luck to all you international users of paypal , it was simple once I had used the service so I will put their logo on my auction site! Suz am here but suzanne to everyone else.

After a recent auction was completed I got the usual paypal email. "You've got cash" Imagine my surprise when I tried to withdraw the funds to my credit card and was not able to. I have never received an email from paypal stating that there was to be a change their service. Even more surprising considering that I signed up for their "professional" package willing to pay fees and all, just three weeks prior to the change. Hey paypaldamon why don't you try and find out what is involved in opening a US bank account if you are a non resident. Especially the cost! How about an accurate reply on when your service will be useful to Aussie sellers again.
