Is there a place in ebay that one can list "wanted item"....or just the search thing?

I think they have a forum for this. They also have a number of specialty type forums (movies, for example) where you may be able to zero in on something you are looking for.

Go to the Ebay site map, Community, Chat rooms, wanted board

I had a friend a couple of years back who ran an auction for the wanted item. He used a penny starting bid, and the title was "Wanted, Widget for XXXPortable Computer" or something similar.

He received a bunch of emails and was able to buy the item he was looking for. I have no idea if it was "legal" by eBay standards, but it worked. I think he ended the listing after he got the emails from the people who had what he was looking for.
